Hours of Work / Ambassadors will be expected to complete monthly tasks which will take around 2 days per month to complete.

Pay / Up to £50 per month plus reasonable expenses
2. Purpose of Job
To provide support, encouragement and advice to Students’ Unions in regards to the National Student Survey and to act as a regional contact for NSS related questions.
· NSS Ambassadors will support the Student Feedback section of the NUS Education Policy team by providing regular and sustained contact with colleges and unions in their local NUS region/nation and assist them with the use and promotion of the National Student Survey for a period between August 2011 and June 2012.
Ambassadors will be expected to…
· Initiate and make regular contact with students’ unions within higher education institutions and further education colleges, as well as maintain communication with NUS regional staff.
· Record, monitor and encourage involvement in the NSS and direct unions to further resources and support available as necessary
· Organise and participate in NUS events and training sessions related to the NSS in their region.
· Attend a selection of national events organised by NUS and other key sector organisations to promote the work of the NUS student feedback project and help deliver presentations and training sessions.
3. Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Ambassadors will be assigned to a group of students’ unions in universities and colleges within their local region and be expected to contact them regularly in person and by email/telephone to provide them with support.
· Hours of work will be determined by individual Ambassadors in order to meet the requirements of the role and assigned tasks. Meetings and contact with unions can be flexible to the needs and commitments of Ambassadors and the unions that they will work with, as long as effectiveness is demonstrated through successful completion of tasks and regular communication with the Student Feedback Team.
· Full training will be given to Ambassadors in July 2011 over a 2 day period to enable them to effectively carry out their role which all ambassadors will be expected to attend. Reasonable expenses for training will be paid for those successfully recruited.
· Ambassadors will be expected to carry out tasks, provide a regular report on their work or contact with unions, as well as attend meetings up to 4 times per year, attend some NUS events related to the NSS and liaise as necessary with the NUS Student Feedback staff.
· Ambassadors will be expected to manage their own time effectively to meet the needs of the role.
· Maintain effective and ongoing communication with NUS staff based in their local region.
4. Job Activities
· Create and maintain effective communication with Students’ Unions to which you have been assigned.
· Act as the first point of contact for all NSS related questions, and be willing to organise face-to-face meetings as and when required.
· Report activities back to the Student Feedback Team at NUS HQ
· Support unions with promoting the NSS
· Be available to assist and guide SU’s with NSS analysis and then use this to back union campaigns.
· Deliver presentations and training sessions in using and promoting the NSS effectively.
5. General
· Maintain a high standard of customer care in service delivery
· Attend events and meetings as required
· To use IT applications (word processing, email etc) to service the posts administrative needs.
· To work towards the achievement of organisational goals and quality standards in accordance with NUS’ Strategic Plan
· To take part in organisational projects as required
6. Additional
The post holder may be required to perform other duties in order to contribute to the overall work of NUS, and to carry out duties on behalf of NUS where specialist skills or knowledge apply.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
q Proficient use of IT skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email and the internet
q Regular access to a computer
q Experience of representing students at any level including course representation, research or campaign work
Desirable
q Own computer with internet access
q An understanding of student issues and/or the National Student Survey
q Basic experience or knowledge of research methods and analysis
q Experience of dealing with external agencies, groups
