JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. JOB TITLE: GREENKEEPER/ GROUNDSMAN

2. ORGANISATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports to:Head Groundsman

Site Manager

3. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Maintain the golf course and College grounds to a high standard. Ensure that the grass of the fair ways and rough is kept cut, and to maintain the greens by cutting, fertilising, scarifying etc. to provide an excellent playing surface. Cut and trim the lawns around the College buildings. During the winter months, when grass cutting is not required, to perform basic maintenance work both on the golf course and within the College grounds.

4. PRIMARY TASKS:

4.1Regularly cut the fairways, rough, tees and green using the gang and push mowers.

4.2Replace the holes on our 18 greens as and when required.

4.3Fertilize, scarify and apply weed killer to greens

4.4Maintain the golf hut and surrounding area

4.5Repair any damage to the course caused by rabbits and moles, sweep greens and bunkers of leaves and debris. Clear away fallen branches.

4.6Keep the tractor and all the other equipment used in a proper state of maintenance and repair, including cleaning.

4.7Cut and trim the lawns and grass areas around the College, including the lake area.

4.8In the winter months as a member of a team under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor undertake basic maintenance and repair of the College buildings both inside and out.

4.9Undertake other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor e.g assist at College events and functions, such as our annual Fair. This may entail from time to time working weekends or after normal hours.
