Good evening, this (Your name, Your Callsign), your net control station for this evening, Calling the Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club’s 2 meter information Net to order.

This net meets at 7:30 PM on Monday evenings after the ‘News-Line’ reports on the W2GSB repeater system in North Lindenhurst, N.Y.

This is an informal net and all amateurs are welcome to join us.

This net is for passing Amateur Radio related information to the members of the Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club and to all other amateurs in the area.

The repeater frequency is 146.685 MHz and the offset is down 600 kHz.

Please remember to set your CTCSS to 110.9 Hz, to access the repeater.

This Net is a local information net and not a traffic net, but emergency traffic will always be handled. The use of this repeater will always be suspended to assist individuals in the event of an emergency.

Net control will be pleased to take ANY and All check-ins at this time and at other times during the Net.

Here we use the hesitation method. For newer operators, here’s what you do: When Net Control asks for check-ins, say ‘This is….. and pause while releasing your “Push To Talk” switch and listen to hear if any other stations are contacting net control. If they are, then please stand down and wait for net control to acknowledge them and then proceed to check into the net. If no one is talking then proceed to give your callsign, name and location for the benefit of everyone within the net, also please let us know if you have any information for the net by stating you have traffic or information for the net. Then stand down and what for the Net Control to acknowledge you.

This net has rotating NCS, comprised of the Emergency Coordinator and Assistant Emergency Coordinators for the BabylonTown area.

MEETINGS:

All Great South Bay’s Club Meetings are held in the Emergency Operations Center which is located in the basement of Babylon Town Hall, which is located at 200 E. Sunrise Hwy. North Lindenhurst N.Y.. All club meeting start at 8 PM. Access to the basement is via the rear of the building. Handicapped access is also available via a ramp and use of the elevator on the main floor.

The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club’sExecutive Board Meeting is normally on the 2nd Thursday of the month. This meeting is only for club members.

The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club’s General Meeting is normally the last Thursday of the month, at 8 PM. This meeting is open to any who wish to attend. We usually try to have a speaker on some topic pertaining to Amateur Radio.

The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club’s also sponsors a Weekly Open House that meets on Saturdays from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM, from September through June. These meetingsare informal and encourage individuals to get together and use club equipment and discuss various projects and objectives within Amateur Radio. They also lend to one on one training and the passing of ideas and procedures. Many ideas and topics are passed during these meetings.

VE SESSIONS:

The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club hosts ARRL Amateur Radio License Exams Sessions every 4th Sunday of the month at 12 noon, except in June and December when it is the 3rd Sunday. All Great South Bay VE sessions are FULL VE sessions and all are invited with no pre-registration required. The Next VE session is Sunday (Date).

We do our best to make your licensing or upgrade experience a pleasant one!

The VE exams are held in the EOC at BabylonTown Hall located in the basement. Access is at the rear of the building at the bottom of the stairs ring the top buzzer for entry. Talk-in on the W2GSB repeater 146.685 –600 110.9PL for anyone needing directions.

Please let us know if you handicap access also.

Please bring the following:

Photocopy and original of current Amateur Radio License if licensed.

Photocopy and original of CSCE(s) that are current.

Two forms of ID, at least one photo ID.

Pens and pencils.

Calculator for math problems on exams, no pocket computers are allowed.

The current exam fee is $14.00
