  • How does it work?

The Children in Crossfire Colour Run is a one of a kind race experience where everyone is a winner. It’s less about speed and more about enjoying a crazy colourful day out for charity. Over the course of the run, your white clothes will be transformed to a rainbow of colours at our colour stations along the way. Our event welcomes everyone of all fitness levels whether you are a Sunday walker or an Olympic athlete, this 5k will be the most enjoyable journey you’ve had in a long time.

  • Are children allowed to participate?

Yes Children are allowed to participate providing accompanied by an Adult. Only children aged between 6 years to 14 years can participate.

  • What type of paint will be thrown is it safe?

The powder paint being used is non-toxic corn starch. It will be best to keep the powder out of your eyes! It is advisable to wear glasses, goggles, bandanas or dust masks. Generally may in limited circumstances cause skin irritation.

  • Do I need to be a professional runner to participate?

The Children in Crossfire Colour Run is welcome to all participants. There are plenty of races to test speed and endurance out there, but with our event you can run or walk your way to the finish line.

  • What if I am pregnant?

It's totally up to what you and your doctor decide. We recommend wearing sunglasses or goggles, and a dust mask over your mouth and nose in the color zones just for extra protection.

  • What is the inspiration for the Children in Crossfire Colour Run?

The Children in Crossfire Colour Run is based on Holi, known as the festival of colours, and other events such as Mud Runs and Paint Parties. It is the first of its kind in Derry/Londonderry. We want to create a less serious and stressful running environment, that could act as a catalyst for continual healthy living, all for a good cause!

  • Can spectators attend the race?

Spectators are actively encouraged to come along. We even have special powder packets available for purchase at the start line. Spectators must be aware that there is no guarantee they remain clean throughout, in fact you wouldn’t!

It is totally fine to take pictures from a distance of 25-50 feet away from the action, but for any closer shooting we recommend covering cameras or camera phones with plastic wrap.

  • Can I run with my dog or pet?

For the safety of or runners/walkers/families, we do not allow animals at the colour run and for the safety of the animals too.

  • Is the Children in Crossfire Colour Run timed?

The event is non-competitive and untimed, we suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

  • How is the colour administered along the course?

Volunteers will douse you in colourful powder at several stations along the course of the run.

  • Will the colour ruin clothes or running shoes?

Although it is possible to remove the colour from clothes and shoes through various techniques, it is advised to wear attire that you don’t mind getting colourful. (Old shoes are best as well)

  • How does the colour affect the inside of cars?

Colour will likely stain the inside of cars so it is recommended to cover seats with towels and/or change clothes before entering.

  • What happens if the weather is bad?

Showers will not stop the Children in Crossfire Colour Run; it can even make the colours brighter
