4. STOCK TYPE - May include but not limited to, breeds such as Paint and Appaloosa. NON-STOCK TYPE - May include but not limited to breeds such as Arabian, Morgan, Thoroughbreds, American Saddlebred.

5. A current 4-H I.D. Certificate and vaccine certificate need to be presented before you can

show at any 4-H horse show. I.D. paper and vaccine papers are due to Extension Office by May 1st. Entries to District Horse Show are due June 1st. State fair Entries are due August 1st.

HORSELESS HORSE

This project is not designated for members who want to show horses. In order to show at Dist. or State 4-H Shows, you must enroll in the regular horse project, see rule 5.

(8 years and under) - To be shown at a walk only, exhibitors in this class may not cross enter into any

other class at this show that requires a jog/trot or lope. Horse must be shown in appropriate equipment, including bridle and saddle with the addition of a lead line or halter and lead line. Equipment may be English or Western.

Classes are limited to riders who have never shown in a canter class. Classes shall be judged 80% on the rider and 20% on the horse. Horses will go both directions at a walk and trot on the rail, back up. A pattern maybe designed to perform and then expect the animal to stand quiet.

LEAD BACK

110 yards is the approximately course length. Each contestant lines up at the starting line. Horse and rider must race across given line at other end of arena, dismount and lead horse back. Rider must cross finish line ahead of horse with reins in his hands. 7 foot is the maximum length allowed for reins. All contestants must wear cowboy boots. In the lead back race the rider can have a strap or lead rope or rein attached where the riding reins are attached. Fastest time wins.

KEY RACE

165 feet is the regulation distance. Two pole bending stakes are placed on the turning line 5 feet apart. Between the starting line and the turning line there are two more stakes 10 feet out and 5 feet apart. These poles are in line with the stakes on the turning line. Contestant is mounted at the starting line. At signal races between stakes across the turning line, turns and reverses course back between the stakes to finish line. Contestant will be disqualified if he fails course by weaving in and out of poles or touches a pole with a hand. A 5
