Canon XF100 / XF105 / XF300 / XF305

File workflow to Final Cut 7
(note: XF files require FCP6.02 and higher)

1) Install XF Utilities software that came with camera.
Software can also be downloaded free of charge at Canon's Pro Site

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/hd_video_cameras/xf100#DriversAndSoftware

2) Attach card reader to your computer and insert media with footage

3) Open FCP File > Log and Transfer (Not Log and Capture)

4) At top/middle of the Log and Transfer window is a small gear. Open this and go to Preferences
Choose Canon XF MPEG2 "native" It does not default to this setting and will need to be selected at each session

5) Any clips that have not previously been transferred will populate in the left side of the Log and Transfer window. You may drag any clips you wish to work with into the lower "queue" section of the Log and Transfer window, or you can select Automatic Transfer to move all clips to our project.

6) Your clips are now in your FCP project and are editable. You may remove the media card as it is no longer needed. Footage has been 'transferred.

Note- When you drag your first clip into the FCP Timeline for editing, you will get a prompt that says the media does not match performance settings. Do you Wish to change. Click Yes

Final Cut X (ten) has a different set of requirements and procedures as above.
