The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the nation’s largest maritime charity and the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation comprising some 400 or so volunteer Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to foster good citizenship in the community.

We currently have seasonal vacancies for two Boatwork Instructors at Port Edgar Boat Station, Sea Cadet Training Centre MOD CALEDONIA,.

Port Edgar Boat Station is located in South Queensferry Marina, near Edinburgh. It is a busy centre, offering sailing, power boating, pulling and windsurfing training to a wide variety of people including; members of the Sea Cadet Corps, members of the armed forces, their dependents and the Combined Cadet Force. Training takes place between February and November.

The posts are open to civilians and uniformed members of the Sea Cadets. A civilian selected for the post will automatically join the Sea Cadet Corps as a uniformed volunteer when taking up the position.

The successful candidate should be able to offer the following as a minimum:

· RYA Power boat Instructor (min L2)

· Safety boat (Training may be offered)

· RYA Dinghy Instructor

· Rowing Instructor preferable, although coxswain would be acceptable as full training will be given.

· Windsurfing experience would be advantageous, but not essential

· In date first aid qualification

Each contract will be for 2 months from 1st July to 31st August 2013 with a requirement of 45 days to be worked plus 7 ½ days paid leave within that period at a rate of £51.02 per day.
