1. / Review of Minutes and Actions:
- Review: The minutes were reviewed and are correct to record.
- Commissioning Training: JB again advertised the training for young people and has asked partners to send names to him directly.
- Action: Identify participants for training and forward list of interested parties to John Bucknall to allow the training to be scheduled.
2. / Children & Young People Participation Strategy:
- JB informed the group that HBC are looking to continue the participation strategy in the 2017-2020 period and has suggested that a subcommittee be set up to generate new ideas and produce a draft strategy for the group to review at the next meeting. MW is to email partners (& advertise on social media) about details of this sub meeting.
- Action: MW to email partners with details about the production of the new strategy
3. / School Nursing Procurement
- SB informed the group that the current school nursing contract will be coming up for tender earlier due to a change in the specification.
- The group suggested that SB speak with:
- Halton Youth Cabinet
- Parent groups
- Families
- SB also told the group that there is a new provision that HBC is looking to commission. The contact focusses on health visitors for families, this new service will work hand in hand with the school nursing team. It should also be noted that this new service is a Halton Borough Council service, and not an NHS one.
- Suggestions made by the group were as follows:
- Have young people on the interview panel
- Consult as many people as possible on what the service should look like, what does it need to have, what does it not
- Engage on as many platforms as possible
- Social media
- Schools
- Young people groups
- SB to keep INVOLVE up to date with the progress of this tender and inform partners of any engagement opportunities
4. / Murdishaw PPG (Patient Participation Group)
- Sara Wilson from the Murdishaw PPG joined the INVOLVE meeting to seek advice on how to involve more young people in the Murdishaw health centre ppg.
- Sara explained the about what the role off PPG’s are and the requirement for each practise to have one.
- The advice given by the group of how to INVOLVE more people was:
- Advertise the opportunity to health and social care students who can use their experience of being on a PPG during their work
- The group directed Sara toward Natalie Patten, who has attended previous meetings, as being the main person to contact as Cronton and Riverside College for getting students on-board
- Chelsea Murdock is also a good contact at Riverside College and Matthew is to pass the details to Sara via email.
- Use social media to allow young people to give their views on the practise without them actually coming to the meeting, more and more young people are now using social media, this is therefore an option which needs exploiting.
- Matthew to send the details of contacts at Cronton & Riverside college to Sara
5. / INVOLVE Said…They did…The impact was…
- MW presented the group with a document which he suggested replaced the current feedback document for INVOLVE, “Information and Task feedback form”, this is something which has been heavily underused, and the document is quite lengthy to complete.
- MW made the suggestion that from the February 2017 meeting, anyone who has an agenda item would be required to fill this out, it would allow INVOLVE to track how many people visited, but also make up our annual review
- The group approved the idea and it will be implemented at the meeting in February 2017
7. / AOB:
- Following the success of HAH, a survey is being run to gather the views of young people and parents before the next Children’s Trust meeting.
- Survey is accessible through,
- Department for Education are running training for local authorities on the subject of participation.
- JH has mentioned INVOLVE being used as a case study and those that want to be involved in this are to contact him directly,
Next Meeting:
