A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND CARL BATTISTONE, A DIRECTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS, FOR HIS TIRELESS EFFORTS AND LEADERSHIP ON BEHALF OF LIONS CLUBS AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS, AND TO WELCOME HIM TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE SOUTH CAROLINA LIONS 32D MIDWINTER CONFERENCE.

Whereas, Carl L. Battistone, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, has been a member of the Bethel Park Lions Club since 1981; and

Whereas, Director Battistone has held many offices within the association, including club president, district governor and LCIF chairman. In addition, he has served as council chairman, council advisor, state convention chairman, and Campaign SightFirst sector coordinator; and

Whereas, in recognition of his service to the association, Director Battistone has received numerous awards, including a Lion of the Year award, the 100% Club President Award, 100% District Governor Award, an International President’s Certificate of Appreciation, three International President’s Medals, two International President’s Leadership Medals, an Extension Award, and an Advancement Membership Key. Director Battistone is a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation Fellow; and

Whereas, Director Battistone was elected to serve a twoyear term as a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 81st International Convention, held in Birmingham, England, June 29 to July 9, 1998; and

Whereas, Director Battistone is a retired United States Marine Corps fighter pilot and, in addition to his Lion activities, is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marine Corps Association, and the Marine Corps Aviation Association; and

Whereas, Director Battistone and his wife, Ruth, have six children and fifteen grandchildren. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Carl Battistone, a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs, for his tireless efforts and leadership on behalf of Lions Clubs and the International Association of Lions Clubs, and welcome him to South Carolina and the South Carolina Lions 32D Midwinter Conference.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Director Carl L. Battistone, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
