Dan Baldwin’s dreamlike allegorical canvasses evoke ideas of nostalgia and memory, innocence and love - Sometimes incorrectly described as ‘the fine line between the sinister and the beautiful’ -birds, interiors, symbolism, memory and an endless stream of imagery, both photorealistic and cartoon combining real mixed media pieces from war and childhood often aiming to capture a personal yet impersonal atmospheric feeling.
Baldwin nods back to Hockney, Rauschenberg and Bacon, but with a definitive ‘now’ attitude. Elements of clean graphic design with the looseness of expressionism reflect his background studying communication media (90/95) at both Eastbourne College of Art & Design, and the Kent Institute of Art - (Maidstone) where he received commendation on both courses .25 yrs of output are evident in his ability to flip between ceramics, bronze, works on paper, painting or film.
He is collected by a growing international clientele of notable celebrities and collectors; has had sell out solo shows in Paris, NYC, L.A, London, Newcastle & Brighton, also appearing in all major art fairs -
