Due to the level of difficulty, some courses receive extra weight in calculating a student's grade point average (GPA).Additional quality points are calculated into the overall GPA and are not reflected in the numeric averages.

One quality point for the completion of: AP Lit/Comp, AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Government, AP Economics, AP US History, any AP foreign language, any fourth/fifth year foreign language, AP Calculus, Calculus, Analysis, Chemistry II, AP Biology, AP Music Theory, IB Classes, AP Studio Art, and Advanced Magnet Science Research.

Half quality point for the completion of honors level:American Lit/Comp, English Lit/Comp, World Lit/Comp, Chemistry I, World History, US History, Economics/Government, any 3rd year foreign language, Euclidean Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, Anatomy/Physiology, Physics, Pre IB Courses, Magnet Biochemistry, and Magnet Physics, Magnet Physics, Magnet Genetics.

Students must pass all five sections of the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) or one End-of- Course Test (EOCT) in each discipline in order to receive a diploma.If a student meets the EOCT requirements, the student must also pass the writing test.
