Hello Everyone,

This is the information we have at this time for the 171 day class. Please see the project page for the drawings. Your Instructor will provide more information for these classes.

MACHINE TECHNOLOGY 171

1. You must take and pass a Safety Test, the passing grade is 91%. There

are 85 question on this test, you can only have 7 incorrect answers.

Before you can operate any equipment in the machine shop Lab. This test

must be taken and passed the first week of this semester.

2.Each student must complete 3 Projects (90% final grade) and 2 TEST(10% final grade) during the Semester.

3.These projects can be turned in at any time before their due dates. If Projects are turned in late you will lose 10 points per day late.

4. You will need 3 pieces of stock, 1 measuring 4.5” X 3.175” X .75” and 1

piece measuring 5” X 2.55” X 1.0” and Round stock 10”x 1.875”. Yourstock must be milled to size.

5.Projects are due as follows:

WEEK

Project #1 6 (MUST BE HAND WRITTEN)

#2 TOP 10 (MASTERCAM)

BOTTOM 11 (MASTERCAM)

#3(4AXIS) 15 (MASTERCAM)

6.You will turn into your instructor the following files on aThumb Drive

Also your *.MCx6 and *.NC Files for each Project.

7.Use Realistic Speeds and Feeds. (You must calculate the spindle speed

and feed rate)

8. Use Realistic Dept of Cut and Step Over, 1/3 to 1/2 the Diameter

of the Cutter. (50% rule)

When using the Manual Mills you will Tram the Mill and Align the Vise before each use!

NOTE: If you break an endmill or any other piece of equipment, you will

loose 1 letter grade for the project. If you have to remachine your

part, you will also loose 1 letter grade.

Example: Project grade of an A will be reduced to a B.

9. Tools, cutters of standard shape and size and setup equipment will be

provided.

Definition of Due Dates:

01. Full Grade if handed in by the end of the class that project is due.
02. One Grade off for One week late.
03. Two Grades off for Two weeks late.
04. 50 % Maximum Grade after Two weeks late.
05. 0 % Maximum Grade after Three weeks late.

The Instructor reserves the right to make changes, with or without notice.

One Full Letter Grade (10%) may be deducted from the Final Grade of those students who are constantly late or that leave early without permission.
