2Workplace procedures are all authorised instructions, processes and work practices carried out in the workshop, factory, shop and worksite.

Elements and performance criteria

Element 1

Confirm job and specifications and select equipment.

Performance criteria

1.1Job is confirmed to be consistent with job sheet in accordance with workplace procedures.

Rangeincludes but is not limited to – client name, location, access, area, environment.

1.2Job specifications are confirmed to be consistent with client’s requirements and job sheet.

1.3Material supplied is checked for its consistency with the material specifications.

1.4Equipment is selected in accordance with the job specifications.

Rangeequipment includes but is not limited to – hand tools, staples, heat seaming equipment, trimmers, adhesive applicators, vacuum cleaner.

Element 2

Carry out installation of soft coverings on walls.

Performance criteria

2.1Fastening systems, underlayments, adhesives, seam bonds and seals are applied in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

2.2Soft coverings are installed in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

2.3Materials are rolled in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

Element 3

Carry out finishing procedures.

Performance criteria

3.1Finishing accessories are installed in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

3.2Maintenance instructions and warranty provisions are provided to client in accordance with workplace procedures.

3.3Equipment is cleared to a ready-to-use stage in accordance with workplace procedures.

3.4Site is left in a secure, safe, and tidy condition in accordance with workplace procedures.

Element 4

Maintain a safe working environment.

Performance criteria

4.1Work practices are carried out without injury to people or damage to equipment, building, or plant, in accordance with workplace procedures.

4.2Personal protective equipment for the task at hand is selected and worn in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

Rangeincludes but is not limited to – ear muffs, safety glasses, gloves, mask, knee pads.

4.3Safety notices are distributed, and signs bearing notification of work are erected in accordance with workplace procedures.

4.4Work area is kept clear of debris and unnecessary equipment in accordance with workplace procedures.

Element 5

Complete job records.

Performance criteria

5.1Job sheets are completed in accordance with workplace procedures.

5.2Records are stored in accordance with workplace procedures.

Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.

Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
