Explanatory notes

1Performance of all outcomes must be carried out in accordance with industry and/or organisation standards and procedures, unless otherwise stated. Industry and/or organisation standards and procedures may include: quality assurance, documentation, security, communication, health and safety, ethics, interpersonal behaviour, and design practice image. An acceptable standard would be comparable to ISO9000 certified organisations and those set by an incorporated professional or trade body. Examples of such bodies are the Designers Institute of New Zealand, New Zealand Institute of Architects and Architectural Designers NZ Incorporated.

2Performance of all outcomes must be completed within the constraints normally applicable to a commercial environment.

3Performance of all outcomes must comply with legislation that has an impact upon the client's needs and requirements such as, but not limited to: Building Act 2004, Copyright Act 1994, Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Designs Act 1953, Fair Trading Act 1986, Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Patents Act 1953, Privacy Act 1993, Resource Management Act 1991, Trade Marks Act 2002, and subsequent amendments.

4Definitions

Render includes rapid rendering techniques of concepts, refinements and details for design discussion, effective and imaginative final design presentations, and final layouts for reproduction in a variety of subjects.

Angular includes 2 point and 3 point perspective.

Project brief includes the design brief and all other project outcomes as specified in a brief.

Prepare for rendering.

Evidence requirements

1.1The subject matter is selected in accordance with the project brief.

1.2Techniques and media are selected in accordance with the design intention.

Rangemedia could include but are not limited to – pastels, marker pens, coloured and graphite pencils, ink, watercolour, gouache, crayon, white and coloured paper, tracing, watercolour and bleed proof paper;

techniques could include but are not limited to – blending, water-colour wash, ink pen, airbrushing, water soluble or spirit marker techniques, overlays, photocopying, photography, computer illustration, montage.

Outcome 2

Produce renderings.

Evidence requirements

2.1Pencil sketches are produced to illustrate the intended composition and content.

2.2Layouts are prepared to reflect the design intention.

2.3Rendering meets the design intention.

Rangeblack and white, colour, grey scale.

2.4Mounts are selected in accordance with the design principles.

2.5Measures taken to protect mounted rendering meet the requirements of handling.

2.6Renderings are approved by the client.
