ACE is looking to honour individuals and organizations promoting and celebratingIndigenous perspectives in Manitoba.If you know someone who deserves to be recognised, honoured and celebrated, please forward a completed Nomination application, with supporting documents, no later than

ACE EDUCATION AWARD CATEGORIES

Our Young Leaders – Bursary ($500)

  • High School graduate or mature student that aspires to be an educator and demonstrates a commitment to the continuation of Indigenous education initiatives. Must be registeredat a recognized University, College or Training Program.

Leadership Sustaining Our Ways – Scholarship ($1000)

  • Individual entered in a Masters or Ph.D. program and has proven their commitment to increase the success of Indigenous students. Must possess a post-secondary diploma that has been applied to an educational setting.

Honouring Our Allies

  • Individual who is non-Indigenous but demonstrates a commitment in promoting Indigenous education initiatives.

Trailblazer/Role Model

  • Individual who is committed to Indigenous education in varying capacities.

Researcher and/or Curriculum Development

  • Individual involved in an aspect of Indigenous research or the development and implementation of Indigenous perspectives in all curriculums.

Spiritual/Cultural Education

  • Individual who is dedicated to and involved in the process of conservation of Indigenous cultures and traditions.

Indigenous Language Education

  • Individual who is dedicated to and involved in the process of conservation of languages through various initiatives.

Honouring Our Elders

  • An Indigenous Elder/Knowledge Keeper who serves the people through traditional knowledge and teachings.Must be 55 years of age or older.

Organizational Leadership

  • Indigenous organization that is committed to strengthening Indigenous education through holistic and inclusive programming and support.

Nominees must:

  • Be of Indigenous descent (with the exception of the Honouring Our Allies Award),
  • In the case of the Organization Leadership, the organization should be Indigenous led
  • Be a contributor to the Indigenous education community,
  • Be 18 years of age or older,
  • Agree with the mission and guiding principles of the Aboriginal Circle of Educators
  • Consent to the nomination by signing the Nomination Form.

All the following informationMUST BE INCLUDEDwhen, or shortly after, submitting a nomination. Missing documents may affect the selection process.

Biography-Please provide us a short (1-2 page), typed biography of the nominee.

It should be specific in discussing which way the nominee has portrayed him/herself as fitting the criteria within the chosen award category. Their accomplishments and educational contributions to the Indigenous community should also be included.

Resume-Please provide us with a most recent copy of the nominee’s resume.

Letters of Support-Please provide us with at leasttwo (2) letters of support, other than the nominator. These letters should outline the nominee’s accomplishments in relation to the award category and should give some reference to Aboriginal Circle of Educators and their mission and guiding principles.

Nominators cannot write a Letter of Support.

Photographs-Please provide at least one high resolution [at least 300 dpi], digital photograph, formal or informal, that reflects the nominee’s personality and fit with the criteria.
