13 Colonies Travel Brochure Project

Due Date: October 8, 2015

  • During this unit on colonies, students will be creating a travel brochure of one of the first 13 Colonies that we will be learning about in class.

GUIDELINES

  • Using white construction paper, create a travel brochure of the colony of your own choice. You may choose from the following Colonies:

  • New Hampshire
  • Massachusetts
  • Rhode Island
  • Connecticut
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • Virginia
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Georgia

  • The travel brochure can be written from the perspective of then or now;however, the main focus must be on historical information. The brochure should:
  1. includethoroughinformation about the colony:
  2. its founder(s),
  3. important historical events that took place,
  4. important people who lived there,
  5. historical buildings,
  6. What life was like in the colony, etc.
  1. Include drawings, pictures, maps, bullet points or other visually pleasing elements. (At least four)
  2. Be neat.
  3. Be engaging for your reader.
  4. Show your resources that you used (Textbook, webpages, etc.)

*Resources:This will be an at-home and in-class project. We will begin doing our research in class with our textbook, class discussion and researching on the Chrome Books and taking notes. After students complete their initial research, they will then take home their notes, research any other information on their colony, and work on their brochure at home. *Notes will be checked for a daily grade to make sure each student is doing his or her research.

This will be a project grade due on October 8, 2015.
