ITRANSED 2010 Introduction

12th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Elderly and Disabled Persons (TRANSED 2010) will be held in Hong Kong from WednesdayJune 2 to Friday June 4, 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The objective of TRANSED 2010 is to review advances in research, profile international breakthroughs and explore perspectives for technological innovations in response to the mobility challenges of an ageing population, as well as people with disabilities. It will also be an occasion to determine where the challenges lie and to provide direction on how to address these challenges.

IIINVITATION TO SUBMITABSTRACTS FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS

Interested parties are encouraged to submit abstracts for papers and posters. All accepted abstracts and papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted poster abstracts are encouraged to write papers for inclusion in the proceedings.

IIITECHNICAL PROGRAMME TOPICS

Taking into account the growing ageing population and the considerable effort to fully integrate persons with disabilities into society, TRANSED 2010 “Sustainable Transport and Travel for All” provides an international forum to exchange ideas on what works and why, and to share inspiration about the future with respect to accessible transportation and travel. TRANSED 2010 will showcase international innovation and technological solutions for accessible transportation and travel.

TRANSED 2010’s technical programme will consist of plenary and parallel sessions, including roundtables, panels, tutorials and poster sessions. The structure of the program will be developed based on the number of contributed papers and posters accepted.

Special user group sessions will be formulated to work out strategies and on viable solutions.

Authors are invited to submit papers which address the conference theme in all aspects of accessible transportation, with special emphasis on:

  1. Affordability and accessibility, including the economics of accessibility
  2. Environmental concerns and new technological development in accessible transport
  3. Accessibility concerns and solutions for those with cognitive and sensory impairment
  4. Accessible tourism

Topics are based on the main theme of the conference,“Sustainable Transport and Travel for All”.

The following topic codes (A.1, A.2, etc.) have been developed to facilitate abstract evaluation and technical program formulation. Authors are to choose one topic code for each abstract submission (see Section IV, Abstract Transmittal Form).

For the purpose of information sharing, exchange, mentorship, skills and/or knowledge transfer, authors are encouraged to submit posters on:

IVGUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS

  1. General Guidelines
  2. Abstracts are welcome from individuals, organizations, universities, governments and industry.
  3. Abstracts on papers and posters previously published will not be accepted.
  4. Individuals can be the principal author or co-author of multiple abstracts.
  5. Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  1. Format

It is strongly recommended that your abstract adhere to the following structure:

2.5.Topic Code: Please choose one topic code for each abstract submission (see Section III).

  1. Rights of the Author

The authors are required to authorise the organisers of TRANSED 2010 to publish and distribute the abstract(s); paper(s); and poster(s) submitted, including printed, audio, braille and/or electronic versions. A release form will be sent to authors upon acceptance of their abstract(s).

  1. Method of Transmission

There are two possible ways to submit an abstract:

4.1.Submitting an abstract via the Internet

The preferred method is to send the abstracts via email: secretariat @transed2010.hk

4.2.Submitting an abstract as a hard copy

Abstracts that cannot be submitted online may be mailed or faxed to the Conference Secretariat. Send one copy only. For mailed copies, please allow 5 working days for postal clearance.

4.2.1.Print on white A4-size paper (21X29.7 cm) using a printer or typewriter, on both sides of the page (double-sided).

4.2.2.Page lay-out: 2.5 cm for top, bottom, right and left margins.

4.2.3.Begin your abstract with the title. The title should be in CAPITAL LETTERS and in bold. Leave a space of two lines after the title.

4.2.4.Print your first name, last name and affiliated organization. Use bold for your last name.

4.2.5.Print your mailing address, telephone number, facsimile number and e-mail address.

4.2.6.Print the topic code that best categorises your abstract (see Section F for list of topic codes). Type the abstract (500 words maximum). Indicate the word count at the end of the abstract.

4.2.7.Use a separate paragraph for each section of the abstract.

4.2.8.Where possible, use Times Roman or a similar serif font in 12-point.
