12th Barrie – Sept 24th Meeting Summary
In Attendance: Ben Helmond, Chris Smith (S), Warren Blogg, Rob Johnston (V) and Jon Smith (B&C)
Discussions:
Bike Rodeo: the Beavers and Cubs are having (had) a Bike Rodeo at the Cundles Heights School Saturday Sept 26th from 10AM till Noon. Program to be run by Barrie Police, with assistance from 2 Scout volunteers, and Group to pay for hot dog snack.
Apple Day – October 17th 9AM till Noon: Beavers and Cubs will meet at 8 Chestnut Cres, and be given routes to walk for Apple Day. Beavers and Cubs are going to be dropping off flyers for Popcorn. Kim to get back to Scouts/Ventures on Apple selling locations.
November Pot Luck – November 12th date has been set for this Family event. Beavers are to bring an Entre, Cubs to bring a Salad and Scouts & Ventures to bring a Dessert. This year we’d like to make an effort to have some entertainment. Each Section is to supply some form of entertainment; note no Song, Skit or Cheers please. Perhaps acknowledge Remembrance Day.
Training: Note that there is a local Quartermaster course, First Aid and Woodbadge part 1 available this Fall. Spots are limited.
Cubs: the Cubs are planning a Winter Camping trip to the Wye Marsh and will be requesting financial assistance from the Group to reduce the price charged to the Cubs for this camp. All in attendance agreed and an amount will be finalized at the next meeting.
Equipment Requests: Scouts and Ventures are going to review what equipment will be required this year including more light weight equipment.
Popcorn: forms are in and ready to go to the Sections. Kim has them and will make arrangements to get them to the Sections. Cubs are planning a meeting night Blitz to pick up popcorn orders. Ventures to possible help with the Blitz.
Next Meeting:
Our new Secretary will be in attendance next meeting and we can expect far superior minutes for that and future meetings.
We need a Treasure before the snow falls.
