Re: Project Specific Work Type for Project 120266

Please be advised that the Department has created a project specific work type for Carpentry and MasonryHistoric Restoration. This project is scheduled to be sold in the April 26, 2012letting.

The Contractor must successfully demonstrate the necessary experience to obtain work type H,Carpentry and Masonry Restoration, prior to the commencement of the work.

The definition and minimum skills requirements are as follows:

WORK TYPE DEFINITION

H) Carpentry and MasonryHistoric Restoration

This work type is specific to Project 120266–BRO- Grant Boyhood Home Streetscape and includes the work of the following type:

-Carpentry and masonry historic restoration includes the specific items of work such as, stone step construction, limestone curb installation, proposed cellar entrance doors and proposed window construction.

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIREMENTS FOR WORK TYPES

H)Carpentry and Masonry Historic Restoration

In addition to the general skills requirement, the contractor performing the identified carpentry and masonry work must demonstrate experience in historiccarpentry and masonry restorationby providing adequate documentation of successfully completing four (4) comparable and relevant historic carpentry and masonry restoration projectsthe within the past five years.To qualify as comparable and relevant projects, the contractor must demonstrate that they have completed the required work on structures on the National Historic Register.

The Contractor’s work force must have the necessary skills and experience to perform the work to the satisfaction of the Project Engineer as outlined in CMS 108.05. Accordingly, the Department may conduct on-site inspection of the contractor’s facilities, equipment, and procedures before granting a contractor this work type.

Contractors seeking to obtain this project specific work type must submit clear and concise documentation demonstrating the satisfaction of the above-referenced requirements to Tom Brammell of the Office of Contracts. Documentation should include at a minimum the project name, location, date of completion, type of historic structures worked on, a description of the historic carpentry restoration work completed on each project and a description of the historic masonry restoration completed on each project, the nature of the project, owner, name of contact for the project and contact information (phone number and address).

The Office of Contracts will approve or reject the Contractor's Carpentry and Masonry Historic Restoration experience requirements within ten (10) calendar days following the complete submittal.
