ENDORSEMENT & ELIGIBILITY PROCEDURES FOR SUMMER NATIONAL AND ZONAL EVENTS - Summer 2006
- If it is a goal of the player to become "endorsed" (qualified) for summer national and zonal events, there are requirements that players must meet.
Junior Sectional 2006: You must play in the age group you wish to be endorsed for all summer national events, including zonals, intersectionals, Junior Davis Cup, Junior Fed Cup and World Team Tennis.
- Three (3) championship tournaments of any level (L3, L4, L5 or L6) starting June 15, 2005 to June 4, 2006.
- USTA Northern Junior Sectional (June 10-14) (The winner of the Junior Sectional will get an automatic bid into the Clay and Hard Courts National Championships).
NOTE: Any combination of three (3) championship level tournaments played between 6/15/05 and 6/4/06 will qualify a player for the USTA Northern Junior Sectional.
3.Selection of players for Zonals and National tournaments will take place after the Junior Sectional. Selection is done by the USTA Northern Junior Tennis Council and is based upon the current ranking list after the Junior Sectional. Players will be selected in order of ranking, based upon the current standings list after the completion of the Junior Sectional. If a player chooses not to go, then the selection process continues down the list of those players that qualify.
4.USTA Northern endorses the following number of players in each age group:
12 Zonals - 10 Boys, 10 Girls
14 Zonals - 10 Boys, 10 Girls
16 Zonals - 15 Boys, 15 Girls
16 Intersectionals - 4 Boys, 4 Girls
18 Boys National Team Championships (formerly Jr. Davis Cup) - 6 Boys
18 Girls National Team Championships (formerly Jr. Fed Cup) - 6 Girls
World Team Tennis - 3 Boys, 3 Girls (16s, 18s)
All other national tournaments - 2 players in each age group are endorsed (To registeronline for national tournaments, go to usta.com - Competitive Tennis - Juniors)
