12/8/15 Students were taking a Flocabulary quiz during whole group reading. Jordan was seated at the table with a small group having the quiz read aloud to them. After the quiz, the class was assigned a new Flocabulary song unit. Jordan was on task 95% of the observation in comparison to a peer who was on task 100% of the observation. Jordan’s scored 9 out of 10 correct on the Flocabulary quiz that was read aloud. When he sat with the teacher for the new packet and she read it aloud, Jordan scored 5 out of 5 on the synonyms portion. He did not need to refer back to the mini dictionary at the front of the packet in order to complete this portion of the packet.

12/11/15 Jordan participated in a writing lesson. He was on task 85% of the observation in comparison to a peer who was on task 100% of the observation. Jordan’s off task behaviors included talking out of turn and picking at skin on his arm during the discussion of questions. They began by being tasked with writing a “thick” question and putting it in a jar. Jordan’s question was a thick question, “Why do angle fish have light over its head.” Later, during the newspaper hunt, Jordan was asked, “What date does the Christmas tree farm close?” Jordan responded incorrectly by saying, “Monday through Thursday,” the days that it was open. When the teacher rephrased the question, he answered correctly. Jordan raised his hand 6 times during the observation in comparison to a peer who raised their hand once.

12/15/15 Jordan was participating in a small group reading lesson with three other students. Jordan was on task 65% of the observation in comparison to a peer who was on task 95% of the time. Jordan’s off task behaviors included talking out of turn and blowing his nose. He was redirected several times for talking out of turn but he continued to interrupt (although it was most of the time it related to the book). Jordan participated in making a prediction about the book and reading aloud. His prediction was thoughtful and appropriate. During his reading of the level N book, Jordan made 11 errors (3 of which were proper nouns) and 3 self corrections.
