11th April British Maxxis Championship at Lyng

What a good track, we rode this last year when we tried our first ACU meeting.

The weather was brilliant and the track was in good condition, practise went really well! In Race 1 as usual we had a bad start and pulled back to 4th. Race 2 was good, we gated mid pack and went really well gaining another 4th. Race 3 went really well we had a 5th place, what a fantastic day we had 3rd overall, getting our 1st podium it was fantastic we were well chuffed, it was hopefully the first of many!

18th April British GP at Langrish

This was the home Grand Prix and we were both really nervous, but ready to try our best. The weather and the track were both fantastic!

Time practice and the track rode a treat we were 14th in our group, so roll on the qualifying race the crowd was massive, the gate went and we had an ok start in about 20th. We got our heads down and went hell for leather and by the end of the race we had pulled back to 12th, it was fantastic we had qualified in our 2ndGP and we were on a roll! Sunday came and we had a brilliant first race, finishing up in 19th place in the points. We were well chuffed it went without a hitch! Race 2 we had a sighting lap before we went to the line and as we lined up Lee noticed the grab rail had snapped. We went off the gate first time past the pit box and I shouted to my dad it had snapped. He then ran to the van and got the spare one and on the next lap we pulled in and changed it. Off we went again, a few people pulled out so we just got in the points 20th what a brilliant weekend we were really chuffed!

25th April British Maxxis Championship at Little Silver

We turned up and the weather was quite bad, howeverthe track was in good condition. There was just enough rain and the track rode quite well in practice, and the bike was running really well.

In Race 1 we had an ok start and managed to pull back to 6th the track was hard to pass on and we couldn’t seem to find a good rhythm. In Race 2 we ended up getting stuck in a first corner crash so we had some hard work to do after that. We could only manage to make it back up to 8th. This was not the best but we still kept scoring points. In Race 3 we had a good race and managed to find a bit of a rhythm and finished 6th we were 7th overall on the day, which kept the points coming in and we were still in 4th place in the championship!

Thursday 13thMay at Reims in France

This was an invite only event, which we had been approached about at the British GP, so we decided to go and were really pleased we did. It was a fantastic track, just like a roller coaster was the best way to describe it. We had 3 good races with an engine change in-between the 2nd and 3rd race because of low compression, it was nothing major just being cautious. It was a fantastic experience and we were really glad we went!

31stMay British Maxxis Championship at Frome

The track is awesome and rides really well, practise went without a hitch! In Race 1 we were struggling getting out of the gate and made the racing hard for ourselves. We came from near the back and finished 6th. On a track like that, it is really hard to pass because everyone is at a similar pace. In Race 2 we had a 7th and inRace 3 we had another 6th place. It was a good day and the weather and track were fantastic!

6th June UMX at Foxholes

The track didn’t look up to much but rode an absolute treat we had three 2nd places. It was a good day to keep us fit for the championships.

27th June British Maxxis Championship at Wrangway

A proper scramble track without any silly super cross jumps just natural hills and bumps. It was a superb track and the bike was handling a treat. The weather was really hot and after 2 races it got cancelled because of the dust, and they had run out of water. We had two 4ths and had 4th overall on the day. We were still holding on to 4th in the championship everything was going great and were having a brilliant year!

July 4thGP at Genk,Belgium

It was a good track and absolutely boiling hot weather. Everything felt good and in timed practice we were 18th so we had some hard work to do. The bike was running wellbut we were struggling with the heat. The qualifying race went great and we finished 12th. It was a fantastic feeling, three Grand Prix races and three qualifications, we were on a roll! In both races we finished just out of the points in 21stit was a fantastic experience and brilliant racing. We never thought we would be doing GP’s and here we were, living the dream!

July 25th British Maxxis Championship

The track was good, the jumps were very unforgiving and hard landing and it was very dusty. The bike was fantastic and everything felt good, we had a 5th in the first race which we were very happy with. Then in the second race we had a 3rd which we were over the moon with. Then Lee was goosed and couldn’t do the last race, as he suffers really badly when the weather is hot. A guy called Ben Blithe stood in for him in the last race. He hasn’t really done much but held on and we finished in 15th. Some points are better than none, but we were now down to 5th place, hoping we could work through it and finish 5th or get back up to 4th fingers crossed!

August 30thKen Hall memorial trophy

The track was Langrish where we had the British GP earlier in the year. Practise went really well and we were 9th fastest. We went through to an extra fun bit called dash for cash. What a laugh we didn’t win but it was well worth having a go! In Race 1 we had a 6th place and really enjoyed the race. In race 2 the bike was running a treat and all was good until we landed heavy off a big jump and lee hurt his wrist. We would have to see how we would go on in the last race.

We were well up in 7th but Lee’s wrist was giving him a lot of trouble so we had to pull in! We had a good weekend and hoped Lee would be better for the last Championship.

September19th British Championship final round Wattisfield Hall,Diss

This round was the last round and it was double points, so a lot up was up for grabs and could be the making or the braking of the season. InRace 1 we had a 7th the track was good and rode really well. In Race 2 we had an 8th which was ok because the guys that were behind us in the Championship were behind us in the race. In the last race we had a 10th, the track was really rough but still good and again the bike was running a treat! We had done enough to keep 5th place.
