Dear Juniors/Parents/Guardians,

Junior year is almost half over which means we have a lot of information to share with you!

The Junior College Planning Meeting is scheduled for January 8, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the auditorium. This night begins a series of informational sessions designed to keep you and your child informed about the post-secondary opportunities available to them. Paula Kennedy, an Admissions Counselor from Southern Connecticut State University, will help navigate the college search and application process.

After midterms, we will be speaking to all juniors through classroom presentations to research post-secondary plan options. We will be facilitating presentations using Naviance, our site for career and college research, college application requests and scholarships. Before winter break, juniors will receive a copy of their transcript, which shows credits earned and their grade point average through sophomore year. Parents are also encouraged to become familiar with the Naviance program. If you have not requested or received your parent access code for Naviance, please contact Casey Rowe or Kristen Vanderveen for your registration code.

In addition, PSAT results will be released and available to students around December 12th through the student’s college board account. The Guidance Department will be distributing individual score reports the following week through English classes.

In order to access each student’s PSAT score report, all students must register for an account on CollegeBoard at www.collegeboard.org. With a CollegeBoard account, students can access their PSAT, SAT, and AP Scores online. This is an account that students will need throughout high school, so be sure to keep track of your username and password.

Follow these steps to create a CollegeBoard student account:

·  Go to www.collegeboard.org

·  Click on “Sign Up”

·  Select “I am a Student”

·  Provide contact information

·  Create a username and password

·  Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions

In addition, here are two videos to help you create an account and access and interpret your score report:
