10th ANNUAL USBC (50 and Over) WV STATE SENIORS

OPEN HANDICAP TOURNAMENT RULES

1.  This tournament is open to all USBC sanctioned West Virginia bowlers age 50 and over at the time of participation. Participation in a senior league is not required. Tournament will be certified by USBC and all rules not specified herein will be followed.

2.  ONLY THE FIRST SCORES BOWLED IN DOUBLES AND SINGLES WILL COUNT TOWARDS ALL EVENTS. Team scores will not count towards all events scores.

3.  Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler's entering average and 230 for singles,

460 for doubles, and 920 for team events.

4.  The singles, doubles, and all events tournament will have six classes of bowlers: SUPER SENIOR IS AGE 75 +, CLASS A IS AGE 70-74, CLASS B IS AGE 65-69,CLASS C IS AGE 60-64, CLASS D IS AGE 55-59, AND NEWLY ADDED IS CLASS E IS AGE50-54. The class for doubles will be determined by the youngest bowler's age on the 1st day of the tournament. There will be only one class for the team event.

5.  Entrants may compete multiple times in the team, doubles, and singles events; however, in order to cash, half of the team must be different bowlers. Teams can be any combination of men and women. Bowlers may cash multiple times with different partners. Bowlers can only cash once in singles.

6.  Entrants will use their highest USBC sanctioned average as printed in the 2013-2014 association yearbook. If an entrant does not have an average from the previous season, the entrant can use their highest current season USBC league average based on 21 or more games at the time of bowling. If an entrant has no previous or current average then a scratch 230 will be used. USBC Rule 319a/2 regarding 10 pin increase in average is waived for this tournament.

7.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH BOWLER TO VERIFY THE ACCURACY OF THEIR AVERAGE AND THEIR BIRTH DATE. Failure to report correct average and birth date, either higher or lower, shall disqualify the bowler, unless a correction is made BEFORE the end of the first game of the first series bowled.

8.  The prize ratio shall be at least 1 in 6. All prize fees will be returned 100%. (PIKE STREET LANES HAS DONATED $1,000.00 TO THE PRIZE FUND). Prize lists shall be based on handicapped scores. No prize fund is available for actual scores.

9.  In the event of a tie, the prize monies will be combined and divided equally. In the event of a tie for 1st place in all events in any of the classes, the bowler with the highest series with handicap in the singles event of that class shall be declared the winner.

10.  The All Events (total pins in the doubles and singles events) Champion in each class will receive a paid entry, from the

State USBC BA, to the Open National Seniors Championship Tournament conducted by USBC. If the 1st place winner is unable to attend, the paid entry will be offered to the succeeding places.

11.  Bowlers should check in at least 30 minutes prior to start of squad with current USBC certification card and proof of age

(ie. Driver's license)

12.  On site tournament officials decisions shall be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC Rule 329.

Tournament staff will be identified prior to start of bowling each session. The tournament director reserves the right to

open additional shifts if necessary, Entries will be available up until October 26, one half hour before final squad.

Note: Bowlers that are not able to bowl both doubles and singles together may split them into 2 squads.

13.  Please do not send cash through the postal system. Checks returned due to insufficient funds will be charged an additional $30 fee.

Premature termination of the tournament by fire, flood or other disaster beyond the control of the tournament shall cause, to the extent required, all advertised prizes to be prorated in accordance with the number of entrants who have bowled in each of the respective events up to the time of such termination.
