SECTION 10 21 13.19 PLASTIC TOILET COMPARTMENTS

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 SECTION SUMMARY

A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.

1.02 SECTION SUMMARY

1.04 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product specifications, standard details, certified product test results, installation instructions, and general recommendations, as applicable to materials and finishes for each component and for total operating system. Include catalog cuts of anchors, hardware, fastenings, and accessories.

B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings for fabrication and erection of toilet partition assemblies not fully described by product drawings, templates, and instructions for installation of anchorage devices built into other work.

C. Samples: Submit full range of color samples for each type of unit required. Submit 6 inch square samples of each color and finish on same substrate to be used in work, for color verification after selections have been made.

D.  Maintenance Instructions: Submit manufacturer's printed instruction for maintenance of installed work, including precautions on the use of cleaning materials .

E. LEED Documentation: Provide certification documentation that plastic toilet compartments contain the recycled content specified above.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Field Measurements: Take field measurements prior to preparation of shop drawings and fabrication where possible, to ensure proper fitting of work. However, allow for adjustments within specified tolerances wherever taking of field measurements before fabrication might delay work.

B. Coordination: Furnish inserts and anchorages which must be built into other work for installation of toilet partitions and related work; coordinate delivery with other work to avoid delay.

1.06 WARRANTY

A. Plastic toilet compartment manufacturer shall supply a written warranty covering plastic toilet compartments, including hardware, against breakage, corrosion and delamination for a period of 15 years.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER

A. Comtec Industries, 1-717-348-0997.

2.02 MATERIALS

A. Solid Plastic: High density, min. 50% post-industrial recycled HDPE plastic and new solid polyethylene (HDPE) with homogenous color throughout. Provide material not less than 1 inch (25mm)thick, seamless construction with edges eased with 1/16 inch (1.58mm) radius corners; all sharp corners removed.

1. Class "B" firerated.

B. Ceiling Hung, Toilet Partitions

1. Dividing panels shall be 55 inches high(1.4mm) and mounted at 14 inches (355.6mm)above finished floor.

2. Doors shall be 55 inches (1.4m) high and mounted at 14 inches (355.6mm)above finished floor.

3. Pilasters shall be 82 inches (2.1m) high, mounted within a one-piece plastic shoe with one-way theft-proof, stainless steel sex bolts.

4. Continuous aluminum edging strips to be fastened to the bottom edge of all doors and panels using vandal proof stainless steel fasteners.

C. Hardware:

1. Door hardware shall be as follows:

a. Hinges shall be integral hinge system. Pilaster to be machined to accept door and hinge mechanism. Hinge mechanism consists of a 2 piece 1/2 inch(12.7mm) diameter nylon pin with "Cam Action" and a 3/16 inch (4.7mm) stainless steel pin inserted into lower portion of pilaster and door. A one piece 1/2 inch (12.7mm) diameter, 4 inch (101.6mm) nylon pin to be inserted into the top portion of the pilaster and door. Door closures shall be self-closing and factory set to accommodate all conditions and allow for a positive opening and closing action free of impediment.

b. Each handicapped door to include: (1) door pull and (1) wall stop. Provide hardware that complies with accessibility requirements.

c. Door strike and keeper shall be fabricated from heavy aluminum extrusion (6364-T5 Alloy) with clear anodized finish with wrap around flange surface mounted and thru-bolted to pilaster with one-way sex bolts. Size of strike shall be 6 inch (152.4mm) in length.

d. Door latch housing shall be fabricated from heavy aluminum extrusion (6364-T5 Alloy) with clear anodized finish, surface mounted and thru-bolted to door with one-way sex bolts. Slide bolt and button shall be heavy aluminum with "Tough-Coat Black" finish.

2. Ceiling Hung, Toilet Partitions:

a. Ceiling attachment or pilaster shall consist of a 5/8 inch (15.8mm) aluminum plate welded to a continuous aluminum wall bracket and attached to ceiling beam by way of two 3/8 inch (9.5mm) tap bolts. Pilasters to be thru bolted to ceiling hung aluminum wall bracket using one-way stainless steel sex bolts. Aluminum attachment plate at ceiling to be covered using a 9 inch (228.6mm) high 20 gauge (0.0358 inch) (0.91mm) stainless steel shoe fastened with 3/4 inch (19mm) stainless steel phillips head screw.

b. Full length continuous wall brackets shall be aluminum (6364-T5 Alloy) weighing not less than 1/5 lbs. per linear foot. Brackets shall be used for all panels to pilaster, pilasters to wall and panel to wall connections. Wall brackets shall be thru-bolted to panels with one-way sex bolts. Attachment of brackets to adjacent wall construction shall be accomplished by no. 14 x 1-1/2 inch (38mm) stainless steel phillips head screws anchored directly behind the vertical edge of panels and pilasters at 12 inch (304.8mm) intervals along the full length of bracket and at each 12 inch (304.8mm) interval alternately spaced between anchor connections.

1) Use 3/4 inch (19mm) torque screws to secure brackets to back of pilasters. No exposed fasteners permitted in outside face of pilasters.

3. Coat Hook/Bumpers: Heavy Zamac chrome-plated with rubber bumper, each door.

4. Door Bumper: Manufacturer's standard rubber-tipped bumpers at out-swinging doors.

5. Fasteners: Stainless steel, 1/4 inch (6.35mm), tamper-proof.

D. Wall Hung Screens: Furnish panel units in size indicated, of same construction and finish as partition system panels.

1. Size: 18 inches deep x 42 inches (457.2 x 1066.8mm) high.

2. Type: Standard wall hung; panels shall be attached to wall with continuous diecast, chromeplated brackets.

2.03 FABRICATION

A. Furnish manufacturer's standard doors, panels, screens, and pilasters fabricated for partition system, unless otherwise indicated. Furnish units with cutouts, drilled holes, and internal reinforcement to receive partitionmounted hardware, accessories, and grab bars, as indicated.

B. Door Dimensions: Unless otherwise indicated, furnish 24 inch (609.6mm) wide in-swinging doors for ordinary toilet stalls and 36 inch (914mm) wide out-swinging doors at stalls equipped for use by handicapped, 32 inch (813mm)clear opening.

2.04 FINISHES

A. Colors: Full range of manufacturer's available colors, as selected by Architect; including premium finishes.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. Comply with manufacturer's recommended procedures and installation sequence. Install partitions rigid, straight, plumb, and level.

B. Provide clearances of not more than l/2 inch (12.7mm) between pilasters and panels, and not more than 1 inch (25.4mm) between panels and walls. Secure panels to walls with not less than two stirrup brackets attached near top and bottom of panel. Locate wall brackets so that holes for wall anchorages occur in masonry or tile joints. Secure panels to pilasters with not less than two stirrup brackets located to align with stirrup brackets at wall. Secure panels in position with manufacturer's recommended anchoring devices.

C. Ceiling-Hung Partitions: Secure pilasters to supporting structure and level, plumb, and tighten installation with devices furnished. Hang door and adjust so that bottoms of doors are level with bottom of pilasters when doors are in closed position.

D. Accessories: Mount accessories to partition units in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

E. Screens: Attach with concealed anchoring devices, as recommended by manufacturers to suit supporting structure. Set units to provide support and to resist lateral impact.

3.02 ADJUST AND CLEAN

A. Hardware Adjustment: Adjust and lubricate track hardware for proper operation. Set hinges on in-swinging doors to hold open approximately 30 degrees from closed position when unlatched. Set hinges on out-swinging doors (and entrance swing doors) to return to fully closed position.
