The Old and

New Testament

FOREWORD

Nothing is more glorious and precious when we are preaching and teaching the Word of God.God's Word is powerful. It reaches into our innermost heart and deepest soul. It moves us into faith in God. His counsel and will for us are revealed in His written Words. His promises, love, mercy, salvation and blessings -- all are in His Book. This book 100 + Sermons is an outline of the some of the chosen and relevant chapters inthe Old Testament and all of the books of the New Testament. We can teach from the book and from the chapters of the books of the Bible. This is a good material for preaching and teaching in series. It’s a Three Part Outline. You can preach from Part 1 in the first meeting and continue in Part II until Part III in the next meetings as you expound, elaborate and give insights from the Scriptures quoted therein. This is an expository outline of the Bible and for expository preaching.

Jesus said,

“Man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that comes from the

mouth of God.” - Mt 4:4

"Sanctify them with Your Truth. Your Word is Truth." - Jn 17:17

The apostles have preached from Scripture so do we from their writings as well.

“Until I come, give attention to thepublicreadingof Scripture,to exhortation

and teaching.”- 1Tim 4:13

“Preach the word; be ready in seasonandout of season; reprove, rebuke,

exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they

will not endure sound doctrine; butwantingto have their ears tickled, they will

accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and

will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”

The ground was not cursed. There was no death. God was walking and conversing with man in the Garden. God provided everything for man. When man disobeyed, God never gave up. Though man has sinned and death passed to all men because all have sinned He prophesied that Christ shall bruise the head of Satan. And at the fullness of time Christ died for the ungodly. The relationship between God and man was restored. Man can now live eternally with God. His soul shall not surely die and suffer and banish away from the presence of His Creator. Now that we are in Christ, He has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness. And we see a future- a Kingdom and a City. There shall be a new heaven and new earth. God dwelling among men. No more pain. No more curse. No wickedness shall dwell therein. God and man forever. Glory to God.

Title: God and Abraham(The Promise)

Context:Genesis 12-26

Key Verses:

GE 12:2 And I will make you a great nation,

And I will bless you,

And make your name great;

And so you shall be a blessing;

GE 22:16 and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,

GE 22:17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.

GE 22:18 “ In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

GE 26:2 The LORD appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.

GE 26:3 “Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.

GE 26:4 “I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;

GE 26:5 because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.”

GE 26:6 So Isaac lived in Gerar.

Introduction:

Did you know that we are descendants of Abraham? All who come to God through faith in Christ are of Abraham. God made a covenant to him that through his seed, that is Christ, all nations shall be blessed. And did you know that the fathers of our father Abraham were righteous men of God? From the lineage of Abraham upward we see men calling and walking with God- from Abraham to Noah to Enoch and to Enosh, son of Seth, the son of Adam. There is one thing in common with these men. They believed, obeyed and walked with God. God destroyed the earth by flood in the olden times because men became utterly wicked but spared the life of Noah a righteous man and his family. God knew Abraham. God was with Abraham and Abraham was with God. He was tested of his faith and found obedience in his heart. How is God’s promise to Abraham related to us now? What can we learn from Abraham and more from our God?

  1. Justification by faith(Verses Gal 3:7-8,22-24 Rom 3:22-26)
  2. Children of God by faith in Christ (Verses Gal 3:26, 29 Jn 1:12)
  3. Heavenly(Verses Heb 11:16 Mt 22:31-32)

Conclusion:

God in the beginning created Man to be with Him. Man fell. The early generations were destroyed. God made a covenant with Abraham that through his seed who is Christ all the nations shall be blessed. The man in Christ shall be justified by faith in Christ who perfected us. Abraham who was an imperfect man sought to believe and obey God. Because of his faith and obedience, his descendants inherited the blessings and we inherit the blessings. God and Abraham. A covenant is between two parties. But it was God who made the covenant. He initiated it. Man knew nothing about it until God revealed it to His prophets and now to us. The blessing of Abraham is our union with God through faith in the promised Savior Jesus Christ. With Him, in His promised land, the new heaven and the earth- the promised eternal life. God restored through Christ what was lost in the Garden. We are back to God. God promised. God sustained. God finished.

Title: God and Isaac(The Everlasting Covenant)

Context: Gen 17-18, 21-22, 24-27

Key Verses:

GE 17:19 But God said, “No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

GE 22:15 Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,

GE 22:18 “In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

GE 26:3 “Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.

GE 26:4 “ I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;

GE 26:5 because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.”

GE 26:24 The LORD appeared to him the same night and said,

“I am the God of your father Abraham;

Do not fear, for I am with you.

I will bless you, and multiply your descendants,

For the sake of My servant Abraham.”

GE 26:25 So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent

there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.

Conclusion:

Thousands of years ago God appeared to a man named Abraham. He called him out of his country to a land God promised and where he shall be blessed, made great and many families of the earth shall be blessed. He had a son named Isaac through whom also the everlasting covenant was made that through their seed all nations shall be blessed. The everlasting covenant is that God shall be their God and their sins shall be remembered no more. This promise is also for the whole world and the nations of the earth be blessed. God appeared to Isaac. God was with him and He blessed him. He was a spiritual man because as a young man he saw and heard God talking to his father and God also talked to him. Isaac meditated, prayed, listened and worshiped God. God has greatly enriched and made him powerful that even king Abimelech of the Philistines feared him because God was with him. Now we are living and experiencing what God promised to Abraham’s family. We have become Abraham’s descendants and through Christ we were accepted by God. He became our God and we His children blessed, forgiven and saved- the everlasting covenant.
