IMPORTANT

Sponsors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents must also complete an affidavit of support, Form I-134. The form is available at under “Immigration Forms”

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

TRANSFER-IN INFORMATION CHECK LIST
Students who are transferring to LASC from another University or College must transfer their SEVIS record and I-20 to LASC. You cannot transfer your SEVIS record to LASC until you have been fully admittedto an LASC degree program.
You must obtain a transfer-in LASC I-20 in order to maintain your valid F-1 status. Transferring your I-20 and SEVIS record to LASC is a four-step process.
  1. Complete this LASC Application Packet and submit all required documents to our Office.
  2. Complete the LASC Transfer Recommendation Form on page 13.Ask the International Student Services office at your current school to complete and fax the form to the LASC Office of International Education.
  3. Upon receiving a letter of acceptance from Los Angles Southwest College, ask your current school to release your record to LASC in SEVIS (school ID LOS214F00701000). Your current school should NOT release your SEVIS record to LASC until you have been fully admitted to LASC.
  4. Once we have created your I-20, you can pick it up in person from our office, have a friend pick it up on your behalf (advise our office viaemail if you plan to do this), or we can send it to you in the US.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

MEDICAL INSURANCE: Prior to registration, all international students must purchase the LACCD medical/health insurance plan. This plan is an accident and illness policy that will provide medical coverage for you while you are in the United States. Information regarding our health insurance plan can be obtained at

GUARDIAN STATEMENT: International Student Program will review the admission of minors who have completed their secondary education on a case-by-case basis. We require students who are under the age of 18 to have a guardian over the age of 21 living in California. If you have completed your secondary education and are under the age of 18, you are required to have your parent and designated guardian submit a signed Guardianship Statement establishing legal guardianship. Please contact the International Student Office for more information.

DEPENDENTS: International (F-1) students are eligible to bring their dependents (spouse or children) into the United States. The dependent will be issued an I-20 and will enter on an “F-2 visa” which is affiliated with the F-1 visa. In order to be issued a dependent I-20, the international student must submit additional financial information in the amount of $3000 per dependent verifying the ability to take care of the dependent. Please contact the International Student Office for more information regarding the process for bringing your dependent(s) with you.

FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIPS: F-1 students are not eligible for Federal or State financial aid and must be prepared to fully support themselves throughout their education at LASC.

ORIENTATION: All incoming international students are required to attend New Student Orientation prior to their course start date. Assessment testing will be given at this time.

TUITION PAYMENT:

The I-Med fee is due at the beginning of each semester. Full Tuition is due no later than at the end of each semester. LASC offers no payment plans.

TUITION COST:Tuition costs are subject to change during the academic year. Students will be responsible for paying any fee increases that arise during their time at LASC.
