Course description: Health is a required ½ credit class needed for graduation from BrandywineSchool District.
Delaware Health Education Standards-
1. Students will understand essential health concepts in order to transfer
knowledge into healthy actions for life.
2. Students will analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media,
technology and other factors on health behaviors.
3. Students will demonstrate the ability to access information, products
and services to enhance health.
4. Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal
communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health
risks.
5. Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to
enhance health.
6. Students will demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to
enhance health.
7. Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing
behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks. (self-management)
8. Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family
and community health.
Grading:
Current Events – 10 Points each week-(ifpresented to class)
Classwork – DUE at end of classeach day(late if next day)
- Quizzes + Tests - on each Chapter
- Presentations and Projects- (Final & Midterm)
- Extra Credit – due on teacher assigned date
90 – 100 A
80 – 89 B
70 – 79 C
60 – 69 D
Below 60% = Failure and must repeat
Classroom Rules:
1. Respect each other’s opinion.
2. Raise your hand to answer.
3. Wait your turn, to add to the topic being discussed.
4. Challenge the opinion not the person.
5. All assignments are due on time! Unless you are absent,
then you have 1 week to make it up.
6. Use agenda book as a Hall pass.
7. No food, drinks, cell phones or hats.
8. Avoid writing on the desks or in the textbooks, using
profanity, combing hair, putting on make-up and
littering.
9. Sit only in your assigned seat.
10. Health Books do not leave the Health Room.

Health Student Expectations:
Preparation-
1. It is your responsibility to be prepared and ready to work
each class.
- Every day you need to bring a notebook paper and a
writing instrument.
- All tests are open notes.
Notebook-
1. You should keep a 3 ring binder for Health Class.
2. The notebook should be neat and organized.
- All handouts, worksheets, quizzes and tests should be completed and kept in the binder
Quick start Activities (QSA)-
- Each day there will be 2 questions on the board that relate to the previous class.
- At the start of class you are required to copy the questions into your notebook and answer them.
- Questions and answers are due at the end of the week.
Each day is worth 5 points.
Make-up Work-
- You are expected to make up all work missed due to excused absences within 1 week.
- All tests must be made up after school.
Lateness-
- A student will be marked late if he or she is not inside the classroom door when the bell finishes ringing.
- 2 lateness’s equal 1 absence.
- 14 absences and you fail the class for the marking period regardless of your grade.
