Electrician Job Expectations

1.Role and Goals for an Electrician:

The role of an Electrician is to provide maintenance support to the manufacturing processes. The goal of an Electrician is to provide professional support in a manner consistentwith our Vision and Mission statements in order to help us to achieve safety, quality assurance, and productivity goals.

2.Objectives that must be meet to reach these goals:

  1. ) Maintain a safe work environment.
  2. ) Work in a team oriented manner.
  3. ) Maintain optimum productivity levels in the maintenance team and plant.

Requirements of Electricians include but not limited to:

  • Electricians must posses a General Journeyman Electrical Card.
  • Must be able to perform basic electrical functions such as bend and run conduit, read electrical prints and install wiring in an effective manner.
  • Must know and keep current on electrical codes.
  • Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of linear positioneers and hydraulics.
  • The Electrician is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical motors and electrical devices.
  • Must have and use a basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
  • Must have personal tools that are required to work efficiently.
  • Electricians must maintain maximum flexibility in order to maintain the plant. At times this will require maintenance personnel to work odd hours, or long hours to keep the plant operating efficiently.

Physical requirements for the Electrician include:

  • Ability to lift weights ranging from 0 to 100lbs.
  • Full range of upper and lower body motion is required for maintenance.
  • Walking or standing 90% of the time.
  • Ability to negotiate stairs, ladders, and steep inclines, and work from heights.

These positions require availability to work all shifts, and be willing and able to work 40+ hours per week. This is a sawmill environment, so must be physically able to climb stairs and catwalks, duck under conveyors, and work in tight areas. As a production facility, must be willing and able to leave a project to fix a break-down “in the moment”.
