1)Q – Why is my watch taking so long to connect to GPS?

A – To ensure a quick connection to GPS, make sure you are connecting your watch to the Timex Connect application on your personal computer. We suggest you perform this connection at least every four days. Likee many other GPS devices, an unobstructed view to the sky is ideal. Tall buildings and/or heavy tree cover could slow down the process.

2)Q. Why does it take such a long time for the GPS to be ready?

A. For best GPS performance, make sure that you are connecting your watch to the Timex Connect personal computer application at least every four days (or, if you have not used the watch in more than 4 days, connect the watch to Timex Connect before performing your workout). Note as well that the TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch requires a clear view of the sky to receive the signal from the GPS satellites.

3)Q: Why is my watch taking so long to fully charge?

A: All USB based chargers vary in the amount of power they can supply to the watch at a given time. Trying a different USB charger maycould help. We recommend charging through your personal computer’s USB port for optimal charging.

4)Q: Why does my watch take more than 2.5 hours to charge up to 100%?

A: Some types of USB charging devices are limited in the power they can supply to the watch for charging. Try a different charger if you find that the watch is taking longer than 2.5 hours to fully charge. A personal computer’s USB ports are a good choice for optimal charging.

5)Q: When I plug the watch into my personal computer, why do twoUSB storage devices pop-up?

A your computer thinks the watch is A: The Watch appears to the computer as both a Mass Storage (Hard Drive) and Media Transfer ProtocolDevice.

6)Q: I am having trouble with the watch not charging.

A: We recommend regularly cleaning the charging cable contact points with plain water to remove any contamination. Please examine the watch’s charging connector for contamination. It is also recommended to occasionally rinse the connector with fresh water to remove dirt or sweat residue from the connector.

7)Q: My watch is not connecting to the Timex Connect application?

A: First, Mmake sure your watch is selected in the drop- down menu. Then, Ttry unplugging the watch and plugging it in again. If those steps don’t work, Cclose out of the Timex Connect computerPC application and restart the application. If all else fails, try Rrebooting your computer.

NOTE: Also – M mac users withusing Thunderbot 3 USB ports may experience intermittent connection. Please refer to FAQ questions 10 and 11 for more information.

8)Q: Why does my Mac with Thunderbolt 3 USB ports have trouble connecting to my watch?

A: Some Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C adapters have been problematic with detecting USB storage devices, like your watch. Multifunction adapters, like AV multiport adapters have shown more issues than simple USB-C to USB-A adapters.

9)Q: Why does my watch sometimes reset when it is connected to my Computer?

A: The watch may have issues with iTunes’ Automatic Sync feature. To prevent this issue from occurring, it is recommended to disable the Auto Sync feature prior to connecting the Watch. 5)We already covered this in #3Q. Watch is the best way to charge my watch. A. You can use a USB wall charger, but charging from your personal computer where you have installed the Timex Connect application is recommended to insure that your watch receives regular GPS ephemeris data updates.

10)Q. Why do theElevation/Ascent/Descent readingsnot match those onfrom a topographical chart?

A. This watch uses the GPS only for calculating elevation. Elevation from GPS’ Its accuracy depends on how many satellites are visible and their positions in the sky for accuracy.

11)Q. How do I activate Race mode.

A. You can turn race mode on prior to starting a workout by going to: “Ssettings>W”, “workout”, “Rrun ” or B “bike”, “Rrace>Edit>e”,S selectingtheyourRrace Ddistance via “edit” and then selecting “>Tturn Onon”.

To turn race mode on when starting a workout:,at the “Waiting for GPS” Screen>Select Options>select “options” on the “waiting for GPS” screen and select “rRace>Select the Race Distance>Turn On” to choose the distance and turn race on.

12)Q.Why don’t I get distance in Swim modeis my watch not showing my distance in Sswim mode?

. A: This watch is not equipped to measure GPS data under water. . It will record your total time only while swimming. A: The GPS requires a clear view of the sky to accurately measure distance. When swimming the frequent submerging of the watch makes it difficult for the GPS to hold onto strong enough satellite signals to accurately measure distance. For this reason this watch only records duration in swim mode.

13)Q: How do I manually reset my watch?

A: This reset method should only be used as a last resort in cases where the watch software becomes locked up or stuck in a bad state/sequence. To perform a two button (hardware) reset, press and hold the UP and BACK buttons simultaneously for at least six seconds. The watch will go through it’s reset/re-initialization sequence and then go into Time of day mode.

NOTE: Tthe time and date will need to be reset, but all previous settings and workout data will be retained.d.
