Project Description: Following the expiry of their current contract with Safran Morpho, Crimtac require a newly developed biometrical analysis & identification system, capable of all functions of the current NAFIS, as well as added functionality for facial recognition. The system should also be open to expansion, allowing additional software packages to be installed allowing further modes of biometric analysis. This project is to be completed within a year or prior to the existing arrangement with Morpho ending.

Project Objectives / Success Criteria / Person Approving

Scope:

Setup a suitable storage and server system to host a state of the art biometrical analysis system / A storage system involving rack mounted hard disks is installed capable of hosting millions of instances of biometrical data.
A server capable of handling a large number of requests at anyone time (viewing, comparing and uploading data) / Project Manager, CrimTrac, End Users
Develop a suitable software solution equip with an accessible user interface capable of managing biometric data of the following categories:
- print data (finger, palm, foot)
- facial recognition
Application should also be open to the addition of more biometric data mediums. / Software fulfilling the outlined requirements is developed, integrated, and tested with the hardware system.
Biometric data should be formatted as a pre-approved file type. / Project Manager, CrimTrac, Development Team, End Users

Time:

An initial timeline of one year has been provided by CrimTrac for the development and implementation of the new system. / The project is complete and the system in place and active within the year timeframe granted. / Project Manager, CrimTrac
A new contract should be established prior to complete implementation of the system. / Contract & all required licensing documents are complete before implementation of system / Project Manager, CrimTrac, ACC

Cost:

Project is completed within the estimated budget. / All sectors of the project are completed within the allocated budget of $15,000,000 / Project Manager, DataCloud CFO, Business Analyst

Approach: Our approach to this project will be based upon the spiral SDLC. This is attributed to the overall size of the project, and a strong need for prototyping to ensure the quality of the product delivered. Access to the data stored by the system would be highly restricted, and it is of the utmost importance that the solution is integrated without any security flaws or vulnerabilities.
