Guidelines
The National Catholic Committee on Scouting has approved the establishment and production of a Silver St. George Award (a silver medal suspended from a blue ribbon) for presentation to worthy individuals based on the following guidelines.
1. Nominee should be a Registered Scouter.
2. Nominee must be an active member of the Executive Board or its Committees
(Standing, Advisory, Ad Hoc, etc.) and/or have provided significant service to
National Catholic Scouting.
3. While a specific number of years of active service at the national level shall not
be a requirement for nomination for the award, active tenure at the national
level should be a significant length to merit recognition, e.g. five years.
4. Nominations are to be made by any active member of the National Executive
Board or Standing Committees. Said nominations shall be received by the
National Secretary no later than 60 days prior to the Biennial Conference or
Executive Board/Standing Committee Meeting.
Procedure
Previous recognition with the St. George by the individual’s diocese shall not be a requirement; however, the local ordinary, diocesan chair or chaplain should be consulted about the appropriateness of the award.
The Selection Committee shall be composed of the following:
· Past National Chair – Chair of the Selection Committee
· Past National Chaplain
· Two Lay members and two Clergy members from different regions to be selected by the National Chair as follows: 1 Standing Committee Chairman, 1 Standing Committee Advisor, 1 Regional Chairman and 1 Regional Chaplain. The members shall serve a one year term and must sit out two years before being appointed again. Members of selection committee are not eligible to receive this emblem during their term of service.
