Application to do a Master’s degree in process engineering

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing in connection with my application to do a Master’s degree in process engineering.

My main motivation for this is my great interest in this subject. In addition, I am intrigued by the link between biology, chemistry and engineering, and am keen to explore this further. During my Bachelor’s degree programme in biotechnology at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Wädenswil, I have become more and more attracted to subjects such as bioprocess engineering and automation technology. I am eager to enhance the knowledge I have gained and would therefore like to do a Master’s degree in process engineering.

I am interested in large-scale production systems such as those used for pharmaceutical products or technologies for waste water treatment. In my opinion it is essential to optimise plants and processes nowadays to make them as efficient as possible in order to ensure sustainable developments. With a Master’s degree in process engineering, I would be able to make a valuable contribution to this area both in Switzerland and abroad.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

4. Letter of Recommendation

Letter of recommendation

To whom it may concern.

This letter serves to confirm that Chris Meier completed a period of work experience from September 20… to February 20… at CAMA (Central Asia Mountain Association), an NGO which is active in the field of sustainable development of the rural mountain regions of Uzbekistan.

During the time she spent with us, Ms Meier conducted a marketing study in the field of energy efficiency (EE) in rural areas of Uzbekistan. To gather information, Ms Hartmann studied the relevant literature and conducted interviews with EE experts and selected households in rural areas. Furthermore, Ms Meier analyzed the local market for products which are related to EE. She carried out very valuable survey and research work, the outcome of which is a report providing greater understanding of the situation.

In my opinion, Ms Meier is a very diligent worker, whose services could always be relied on. She proved that she is able to apply knowledge gained from her studies and was able to acquire the knowledge needed for the marketing study independently. Furthermore, Ms Meier’s cultural sensitivity greatly facilitated her making contact with people in Uzbekistan.

I have no hesitation in recommending Ms Meier for employment. She is able to work independently as well as in a team, and would make a valuable asset to any organization.
