REVIEWER GUIDE

1. Journal Ethics and Conflict of Interest

  • Please disclose to the Editorial team immediately if you recognize the topic of the submission to be of your close collaborator, or if you have collaborated on the submision, or in any other way have worked with and/or known the author very closely. The Editorial Office can help you with this issue.
  • You may wish to excuse yourself should you recognize the submission to be that of your student, or close colleague.

2.. Reviewing Manuscripts: What to Keep in Mind

  • Please familiarize yourself with the reivew rubric first, so you understand what is being asked of you (i.e., feature article, brief report, etc.).
  • Complete the review considering the work on its own merit. Personal preferences should not influence your decisions.
  • Usethe comments’box at the bottom of the review rubric to provide a more narrative review. Please be professional, polite and considerate in your criticism as the comment box contents will be copied into an email to the author.
  • Authors appreciate clear advice or constructive comments so that they can easily understand what is being asked of them. Be specific and concise.
  • It is recommended that you provide guidance to the authors how to revise both the structure and organization (additional headings, subheadings, tables, etc); and content by additing references, asking for more data discussion and explanation of data, or additional theoretical discussion (or even some minor sentence reorganization within a paragrph if indeed it would make the presenation clearer, etc.)

3. Special Note

  • Narrative Feedback (included in the JotForm)

Narrative feedback section is sent to the author. Please be as constructive as possible. Provide detailed comments describing the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, including the paper’s substance and methodology, length, clarity, interpretation, and style. Where improvements can be made, please try to include suggestions, including the page number that will be helpful to both the editor and author. While there is no official minimum-maximum word count, we encourage you to provide feedback from 400-1,000 words, if possible).

  • Check the narrative before submitting it, please.

Due to limited resources, Editorial Office is not in a position to copy edit reviews. Please edit the narrative feedback for grammar, spelling and punctuation prior to submitting the review. It will be copied/pasted directly into the email to author.
