1.  Job Title: Ypeer Mentoring Co-ordinator

2.  Location: Ypeople, 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, G51 2JA

3.  Grade: SCP 26 - 32 (£22,966 – £27,825)

4.  Job Purpose:

The Mentoring Co-ordinator will be required to oversee the successful delivery of our Ypeer Mentoring Service for care experienced young people aged 14 to 26 within the Glasgow area.

The Mentoring Co-ordinator will have responsibility for the recruitment, training and day to day supervision of volunteer peer Mentors. Additionally, the Mentoring Co-ordinator will be key in promoting the service and networking with key partners and agencies.

5.  Reporting:

The Mentoring Co-ordinator will report directly to the Operations and Business Manager and through him/her to the Head of Operations and Business.

6.  Key Result Area:

·  Effective delivery of a high quality peer mentoring service for care experienced young people, aged 14 to 26, within the Glasgow area.

·  Contribution to the continuous development of the service.

·  Comprehensive and efficient recording systems to support the needs of service users.

·  Consistent adherence to all relevant polices and procedures ensuring best practice and legal compliance.

7.  Key Tasks:

Service

·  Co-ordinating the day to day delivery of the peer mentoring service.

·  Positively promoting the service to raise the profile of the project throughout Glasgow.

·  Designing and co-facilitating a range of training sessions to peer Mentors.

·  Facilitating regular meetings with Mentors and Mentees.

·  Recruitment and training of volunteer peer Mentors.

·  Effective supervision of volunteer peer Mentors.

·  Sound understanding of local budgets.

Recording systems

·  Carrying out day to day administration of the service i.e. record keeping, responding to enquiries etc.

·  Ensuring records with personal details of young people and volunteers are properly maintained and held securely.

·  Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Policies and Procedures

·  Ensuring the peer mentoring service is delivered in line with the National Care Standards and Care Inspectorate requirements.

·  Being aware of and following the various policies and procedures of Ypeople.

·  Any other reasonable duties as specified by line manager.

8.  Relationships:

Internal

·  Develop good communication and working relationships with line manager and staff within Ypeople.

·  Establishing and developing positive working relationships with Ypeople colleagues, young people, volunteers.

· 

External

·  Represent Ypeople at partnership agencies, relevant networks and any other external bodies as required.

·  Positively promote the peer mentoring service and wider Ypeople services where possible.

·  Making key links with external agencies to recruit both Mentors and Mentees.

·  Representing Ypeople at key events, conferences and network meetings and forums.

9.  Working Conditions:

·  An average of 35 hours per week, some of which will at times require to be worked during evenings or weekends to meet the demands of the role and to provide adequate level of support to the service.

·  Participate in an on call rota for the services.

·  Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours holiday (equivalent to 6 weeks) per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) per year in the second. This includes public holidays.

·  Following successful completion of a 3 month probation automatic enrolment into the People’s Pension or access to join the YMCA Group Personal Pension Plan Life Assurance Scheme.

·  All appointments are subject to a minimum of 3 months probationary period

·  Due to the nature of our work you may be asked to work at different locations depending on operational requirements

10.  Additional Relevant Information:

It is the nature of the work of Ypeople that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All employees are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises. These additional duties will be compatible with the regular type of work. If this becomes a regular part of the job it will be included in the job description in consultation with the member of staff.
