ROLE DESCRIPTION
1.JOB TITLE: Technical Services Infrastructure and Projects Technician
2. CONTEXTTechnical Services has the responsibility for supervising and supporting all technical resources, including IT and related facilities. As part of the Technical Services function the Technical Support team will provide:
- A helpdesk function for all College resources
- A responsive support service for trouble-shooting, repairing and maintaining College systems and equipment.
- A service for the installation of new IT equipment and software
- End user training for new devices and systems
3. MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible to: Technical Services ManagerResponsible for: Support of Network, Voice, Server and college IT Infrastructure
4. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo work collaboratively as part of a team to support all hardware and software Infrastructure to ensure minimum service outage to the college.
5. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and assist in administering and supporting the technology infrastructure to ensure it is continuously maintained and available for use,
- Provide technical advice to the Technical Operations Manager on technology issues and developments to ensure systems are robust and effective.
- Provide project control function for Technical Services to manage and control projects and implementations to ensure delivery to agreed target dates.
- Provide coordination for the investigation of new developments in areas supported by Technical Services and in the testing of new systems, upgrades and features for our supported systems.
- Implement agreed procedures for hardware and software audit, security and inventory.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Technical Services team to develop and deliver long-term solutions to meet the college needs.
- Ensure backup and disaster recovery procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure access control systems are supported and updated daily.
- Monitor and maintain the colleges security applications to ensure the infrastructure is secure at all times.
- GENERAL AND COLLEGE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in training and team development activities to update skills and knowledge.
- Promote the effective implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy in relation to all aspects of the duties of the role.
- Promote the highest standards of health and safety practice in relation to all aspects of the duties of the role.
- Undertake such additional duties or projects as the Principal or Technical Operations Manager may determine from time to time, after consultation with the postholder.
