1. Job Title: Chichester and Bognor Homeless Hubs Manager

2. Reportsto: Director of Client Support

3. Place of Work: Chichester Hub & Bognor Hub

4. Job Purpose.

  • Manage the day to day running of The Hubs.
  • Supervise staff in their assessment and support of rough sleepers/homeless clients.
  • Ensure the Hubs are a safe and secure environment for both staff and clients

5. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

a) To Secure a Safe Environment for Staff & Clients accessing The Hub

  • Ensure Risk Assessments on Clients are completed
  • Ensure Environmental Risk Assessments on the property are completed, to include all Health and Safety regulations
  • To deal with any First Aid Issues
  • To Ensure Fire Risk Assessment Reviewed appropriately
  • To manage the team to immediately assess risk when clients access the service and to manage any chaotic behaviour
  • To ensure any property defects are reported and undertaken
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive response to clients

b) Provide Support & Management

  • Provide supervision, guidance and support to the support workers at the Hubs
  • To undertake reviews of key working and support sessions with clients to review progress, development and challenge any negative behaviours
  • To facilitate workshops and ‘groups’ for clients as per service requirements
  • To train and share best practice with other teams in Stonepillow.
  • To develop good partnership relations and ensure they provide appropriate support for our clients through workshops and robust referral pathways. These will include GP’s, Social Services, CMHT, Mental Health Wards and MIND.
  • To offer targeted 1:2:1 sessions with clientsand refer to other clinical services as appropriate.
  • To accurately record and monitor outcomes so as to provide reports when requested
  • To assimilate and review regular feedback from all stakeholders (including clients) to improve services and outcomes as part of Stonepillows continuous development programme.
  • To deal with petty cash within the project.
  • To be a member of the out-of-hours on call Rota, responding to calls and attendance on site as necessary.

c) Professional Compliance

  • Operate within clear professional and confidentiality boundaries
  • To implement service specific policies and procedures
  • Regular liaison with the other teams and services within Stonepillow
  • Structured communication internally within the team and to the rest of the business
  • To attend staff meetings as required
  • To develop a knowledge of the organisations other services and support
  • To ensure the service is maintained to a good and clean standard
  • To represent the service/company at multi agency meetings in a professional way

d) Skills & Communication

  • To ensure staff accurately record support & advice given and files are reviewed on a regular basis
  • To use and access the IT systems, including e-mail and Stonepillow stats
  • To diffuse chaotic situations ensuring the continued safety of the staff and clients
  • To maintain a professional approach to all communications with external agencies and visitors
  • To deal with difficult and problematic situations in a sensitive manner.

6. Health and Safety

To ensure the health, safety and security of staff, students, clients volunteers and members of the public on the premises in all locations in line with the project procedures.

7. Confidentiality

This policy covers all Stonepillow employees and volunteers, all of whom will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Anyone working for Stonepillow who breaches the agreement will be liable to disciplinary action under the staff disciplinary procedure.

8. Other

To undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required in the interest of Stonepillow.

  1. Good knowledge of welfare benefits, housing and homelessness law and policy relevant to rough sleeping and hostel provision.

  1. Experience of working with clients who use alcohol, drugs and issues around addiction and knowledge of relapse prevention techniques.

  1. An understanding of working directly with vulnerable people; this can include tenants with learning disabilities, mental health problems, physical disabilities, ill health, behavioural issues, domestic violence
