LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The following scholarship applications will be available online starting January 06, 2016 to graduating seniors and are due back to the Guidance Office byFriday, February26, 2016 no later than 3:15 p.m. APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER THIS DATE CANNOT BE ACCEPTED!

1. Jared Alinger Memorial Scholarship ($1000)

Must have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, earned 3 or more AP or Honors credits, and must provide copy of acceptance to college/university.

2. Marion Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

John A. Logan Tuition Waiver (1 year)

Grad Spree Scholarships (3 $1000)-Any college choice

Must plan on continuing education in the field of business or commerce, Upper half of class ranking, minimum ACT score of 18, minimum GPA of 3.0, must maintain “C” GPA while enrolled in college. Form must be signed by your guidance counselor.

3. M.H.S. Activities Scholarship ($500)

Minimum accumulated GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 grading scale, must have served for two years or more in three or more organized campus groups and/or class offices.

4. Marion Kiwanis Club Lee and Dot Chamness Memorial Scholarship ($4000)

Upper half of graduating class, financial need, immediate family members of Kiwaniansare not

eligible for this scholarship.

5. Delta Theta Tau Gayla Crabtree Memorial Scholarship ($1000 Scholarship; number of

scholarships is at the discretion of the Delta Theta Tau scholarship committee)

Upper half of class ranking, financial need considered must be a full-time college student and complete a full year of college.

6. Marion Education Association Scholarship ($1000)

Special consideration given to students majoring in education, must be in the upper 50% of the class.

7. Marion Cultural and Civic Center Foundation/Yolonde Peterson(One $1000 Scholarship)

Must plan to pursue a career in fine arts which includes: music, drama, art, dance, creative writing, speech, or radio-TV communications as a performer, director, teacher, therapist, producer or a related field.

Elizabeth Johnston Scholarship ($1000)

Must have minimum accumulated GPA of 3.25 on 4.0 grading scale, sons or daughters of any member of the board of directors of the Marion Rotary Club Foundation are not eligible.

9. Everett and Otilia Lynch Scholarship ($2000)

(Note: this scholarship may be awarded at a worship service at the Zion United Churchof Christ in August)

Must be admitted to a college, nursing school, or seminary.

10. Kay and Walter Pape Scholarship ($1000)

Must plan on attending college or trade school or enrolled in Building Construction classes or shown interest in field of education through volunteer work in early childhood or education. Members of FFA will receive consideration as would students involved in working with children.

11. Marion Business and Professional Women’s club (2 $600)

Minimum accumulated GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale, Senior GirlsOnly.

12. Dan Marcum Good Neighbor Scholarship ($1500)

This scholarship is open for any student to apply. Heavy consideration is given to the required essay, describing your commitment to your community.

13. Alpha Delta Kappa – ($500 Scholarship)

Must be entering teaching profession.

14. Marion Professional Firefighters Scholarship ($500)

Must have a 3.0 accumulated GPA on a 4.0 scale, should show proof of admissionto a college/university, academic standing, school organizations/clubs, outsideactivities, etc. are considered but not controlling factor.

15. WilliamsonCounty Foundation for Exceptional Students ($750)

Applicant must have a current IEP and must graduate from a Williamson County high school and have attended that school for at least four semesters, student must have received SpecialEducation services for at least four semesters in Williamson County.

16. Walter Houston Memorial Scholarship (up to four $1000)

Scholarship good only at JohnA. Logan College or SIU-C; student must have3.0 accumulated GPA on a 4.0 scale, recipient must show proof of admission toa program in education, nursing, pre-medicine, or other health related field.

17. Ruth Ratermann Memorial Scholarship ($900)

Must rank in upper half of graduating class, must show proof of admission to college/university, special consideration to students majoring in education.

18. August and Thelma Fowler Memorial Scholarship (Three $1000scholarships)

Must rank in upper half of graduating class, must show proof of admission to college/university, financial need considered.

19. Marion Unit 2 Foundation Thomas K. Oates Scholarship ($1000)

Must rank in upper half of graduating class, must provide proof of admission tocollege/university, ACT, grade point average, financialneed, extracurricular activities, outside work, high school course pattern and essay are criteria used to determine recipient.

20. HeartlandHospital Auxiliary

Don Melvin Memorial Scholarship

Must be in upper half of class, must be admitted to a college/university in a health related field, financial need considered but not controlling factor.

Heartland Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

Must be in upper half of class, must be admitted to a college/university in a health related career field, financial need considered but not controlling factor.

Aileen Motsinger Memorial Scholarship

Must be in upper half of class, must be admitted to a nursing program at a college/University/hospital program, financial need considered but not controlling factor.

21. Edward Holland Aikman Scholarship (Two $2500 scholarships)

Must rank is upper half of graduating class, must provide proof of enrollment to college/university, financial need considered, special consideration given to those who plan to use their degree to improve the environment.

22. Cynthia Guard Family Scholarship ($2000)

Must be pursuing a vocational or technical career, must rank in upper half of graduating class, must show proof of admission to college/university, financial need considered.

23. Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89 Scholarship ($1000)

Rank in upper 50% of class, show need for financial assistance, must complete one full year of college or must re-pay scholarship.

24. Marion Lions Club Leroy Anderson Scholarship ($1000)

Applicant must plan to pursue a degree in Education. Must rank in upper half ofclass and must present proof of enrollment to college/university. Scholarship will be awarded at the Lion’s award ceremony at Marion high school.

25. Grant Memorial Scholarship (up to four $1000 scholarships)

Applicant must be Female and have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or ACT score of 21 or above. Must be a full time student with an interest in the fields of History, English, Communications,Geography, or the Social Sciences. Must show proof of enrollment for Fall Semester.

26. Marion FFA Alumni Association Scholarship (two $1200 scholarships)

Must be an active member of the Marion FFA and in good standing with theMarion FFA advisor, GPA of at least a “C” average, Must provide proof of enrollment to an Accredited Educational Institution.

27. Middle Child -Mike Strang Scholarship ($1000 scholarships)

Must be pursuing a degree in construction industry or health related field. Must have 3.0 GPA, and must provide proof of admission to an accredited college or university.

28. Marion Knights of Columbus Scholarship and Marion Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary (3 $1000)

Must be a practicing Catholic, full time student and graduate of Marion High School this year; involved in church, school and community activities; A member of St. Joseph Parrish, Marion, IL or a dependant of a member of Knights of Columbus Council # 6210. Proof of school admission is required to receive funds.

29. Marion Soccer Incorporated ($500)

Available to one male and one female senior, must have participated in the Marion Recreational Soccer Program, and financial need will not beconsidered when selecting candidates.

30. Marion High School Common Application

These scholarships are open applications in which the following criteria will be considered: financial need, academic and career goals, and involvement. This application serves as an application for the following scholarships:

31. Jenny’s Uniforms ($500)

Applicant must be planning on entering a healthcare related field. Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and an essay is required detailing your future plans. Financial need may be considered.

32. Don Henard Marion Lions Club Scholarship for the Visual/Hearing Impaired ($1000)

Scholarship is designed for students who have been diagnosed with a mild to profound deafness OR Vision impairment as described within the application. Proof of diagnosis is required. Scholarship will be awarded at the Lion’s award ceremony at Marion high school.

33. Marion Garden Club Scholarship ($500)

Scholarship is designed for students who have demonstrated an interest in horticulture, gardening, farming, or community service involving such activities. The scholarship monies will be awarded at a June or July Marion Garden Club meeting. Financial need will be considered.

34. L.C. & Marilyn Cavaness ($1000) Renewable

Preference given to students with a GPA between 2.75-3.0, must show proof of admission to a college or university, work experience, and extra-curricular involvement recommended, and an essay is required.

35. Robert D. Bradley Scholarship ($4000)

Scholarship is designed for any field of study. Requirements include: students must rank in upper half of the graduating class, financial need will be considered, ACT score and a letter of admission from college or university are both required.

These scholarships are available only in hard printed copies and may be requested from the guidance office.

1. Brewer Family Foundation ($4300 annually for Four Years)

Must be a graduate from Marion or Herrin High School, must have a 2.0 accumulated GPA on a 4.0 scale, preference given for financial need, must show proof of admission to college/university, personal interview of all candidates.

2. Marion Health Foundation

Marion Memorial Health Foundation (two-four $1000 Scholarships)

Must have a 3.0 accumulated GPA on a 4.0 grading scale, must show proof of admission to a college/university in a health care field.

R.D. Morgan, M.D. Medical Scholarship ($2000)

Must have a 3.75 accumulated GPA on a 4.0 grading scale, must show proof of admission to a college/university as a pre-med major.
