1.Find schedules with Timetable Planner
How to
- Sign into Student Services Online and click the Enrol button.
- Select the term (semester) you want. From Sem 1 2015)
- Click Add Classes with Timetable Planner.
- Click Add Course.
- Choose your Subject and Course using the dropdown menus. Click Add and Continue until all your courses are added. Click Add Course for the final course to be taken back to the main screen.
- Click Generate Timetables.
- Click View to see a timetable.
Tip
If no clash-free timetables are generated, try selecting a different Course Status option.

2.Add Breaks
These are the times of day that you don’t want to take classes, eg. work, sport practice etc. You can add as many breaks as you want.
How to
- Click Add Break. Breaks allow you to block out time in your schedule for your own use, eg, work, family commitments etc.
- Enter a Break Name.
- Enter a Start Time and End Time.
- Select the days.
- Click Save Break.
- Click Generate Timetables.
Tip
- If the Timetable Planner cannot find any valid timetables with your break added, try changing the break options and trying again
- This is one way to reduce the number of timetable options generated.

3.Add a Lock
Locks allow you to select a particular stream to appear in all suggested timetables.When viewing a timetable option and you find a class or series of classes you like these can be locked into your timetable.
- Click View to see a timetable.
- Next to the title of the class there will be an open padlock. Click the padlock to lock that stream in place.
- Click Close Timetable.
- Click Generate Timetables.
- Lock classes -
- Simply click on the padlock icon and this class option will be locked in.
- Close the timetable down and click on generate timetables.
- You can then plan the rest of your timetable around this class or series of classes.
Tips
- This is one way to reduce the number of timetable options generated.
- Add a lock to as many streams as you like.
- If you lock a related class, you will also lock the main component it is associated with.

4.Customise courses
You can tell the Timetable Planner which classes to include and exclude from the suggested classes.
- In the Courses table, click View/Edit in the Options column.
- In the window that appears, un tick the time/day options you want to exclude from the timetable suggestions.
- Click Save and Close.
- Click Generate Timetables.
Tip
If you do not get any suggested timetables, go back and re-tick some options and try again.

5.Enrolling with Timetable Planner for Cohort Students
Cohort students have a course list prepared for them by the faculty.
- Sign into Student Services Online and click the Enrol button.
- Select the term (semester) you want.
- Click Add Classes with Timetable Planner.
- Click Add Course.
- Click Search by Cohort (Eligible Programmes Only).
- Select your Programme/Plan.
- Select your Cohort.
- Click Add Cohort Option.
- Click Generate Timetables.
- Click View.
- Click Send Timetable to Enrolment Cart.

6.Timetable Planner FAQs and Tips
- Student is not active in a programme –if you are not currently active in a programme at the University of Auckland you will not be able to enrol.
- Student only has a conditional offer -If you have received a conditional offer for a particular programme you are not currently active in that programme and will not be able to enrol in it until the offer becomes unconditional.
- How to reduce the number of timetable options generated – there are a number of ways to do this.
- Add Breaks – See above
- Add Locks – See above
- Timetable options default to week 2
Look at other weeks to see your full timetable as not all course components may be visible in that week. Click into another week to see what other components are available for that course.
Week 2
In week 2 only the Lab component for CHEM 110 is visible (in blue) / Week 3
Go into week 3 and the BIOSCI Lab is is visible(in yellow)
- The i button -Hover over the i button to get the relevant course information.
When viewing timetable options hover over the i button and you will be able to view all relevant course information. Info may include:
- Title
- Instructor
- Whether consent is required
- Pre-requisites
- Co-requisites
- Course description
- Location
