Job Purpose:
Responsible for design, delivery and advice on a range of training methods, primarily focusing on IT systems used by the following service areas: Adult Care, Children’s Services and Finance. The IT systems include: OLM CareFirst, Learning Module System, Northgate Info@Work, Camtasia Studio, SAP Business Objects.
Principle duties and responsibilities:

1.Design and deliver training for IT systems used by staff in Adult Care, Children’s Services, Finance and other staff or professional colleagues as required.

  1. Assess system usage issues; provide advice and support to staff at all levels ensuring the provision of a consistent quality service.
  2. Maintain training records and an evaluation system which demonstrates the effectiveness of training to meet business objectives.
  3. Design and develop customised systems training for the service areas.
  4. Provide administrative support in the organisation and delivery of systems training for the service areas. For example, book training suite, print guides and instructions.

Responsibility for People – Supervision/Management:
The Training Officer has no direct reports but is expected to give assistance, advice, guidance and support to team members and colleagues at various levels including social work managers and administrative support staff.
Decision making, Planning requirements and Procedural context:
The Training Officer’s work is directed by the Systems Development Manager. The work will be ad hoc and directed by the work plan for the year. The work plan is developed from other service areas, for example:
  • Scheduled upgrades of the various systems
  • Service Improvement Plans of Children’s and Adult’s Services
  • Planned corporate implementations.
The training officer will assess the training goals, skills of the participants, available time and decide the best training method or techniques and develop training material as appropriate. Methods and techniques expected are classroom/IT suite based, training videos, case studies, training guides, group discussions.
Communication / Nature of Contacts:
  1. Above average presentation skills which incorporate a dynamic and credible vision of the importance of training and development ideally within local government.
  2. Enthusiastic and committed to working as an integral member of a dedicated team of professionals facilitating the usage of IT systems in a structured and planned way, and within agreed timescale.
  3. Must be able to communicate with managers to assess an issue then in turn provide advice on a variety of training and development issues.
  4. Must be able to influence and develop positive employee training and development experiences.

Working Environment:
Office based in Haverfordwest

  1. Experience in the design and delivery of a range of training.

  1. Understands the function and purpose of a relational database.

  1. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  1. Qualified to NVQ111 IT or equivalent.

  1. At least 2 years experience in design and delivery of training in basic IT applications.

  1. Working knowledge of service area database systems or equivalent systems: CareFirst, Northgate Info@Work, CareWorks YOT
