Speedminton Tournament
Tournament Rules:
1. Choose a partner that you will work with for the ENTIRE Tournament
2. It is your responsibility to remember which court you end on each day – therefore the court where you begin at the following day
3. When the whistle sounds, the timed round will begin.
4. When the second whistle sounds you will change sides of the court (halfway thru round)
5. Keep playing and keeping score until the final whistle sounds- team with the higher score wins.
6. The team that lost gets the first serve at the beginning of the next round.
7. If you win your round, you move to the next HIGHEST court
8. If you lose your round, you move to the LOWER Court
9. If the game is in a tie, you play until the next point is scored and other teams waiting to rotate STAY OFF THE COURT!!!!
10. If there is a disagreement on your court, re-play. If the problem is not resolved teams will be moved down to the bottom court.
11. Racquets and speeders stay on the court; they do not go with you as you rotate.
12. No throwing racquets or slamming them into the ground!
13. You will have a skills test during the tournament: 1. On your game play, following the rules, etc.
14. Even when you switch sides of the court half way through the round, you still serve R/L/R.
15. If the serve lands on the middle line, the serve is good since lines are in for speedminton.
16. You can play the dead zone but CANNOT SMASH it into your opponent’s court.
Scoring
Every volley counts unless it has to be repeated. Points are awarded in the following cases:
- Service fault – serve doesn’t make it across the line, serve not diagonal, score not called before serve
- Speeder lands in the playing field or on a line and cannot be returned
- Speeder lands out-of-bounds
- Speeder is hit twice on the same side (one hit per side!)
- Body comes in contact with the speeder
***If a player returns an “out” speeder, then the play continues***
