  1. Research plan in Doctoral Course

(1) Background of the research

Write the background and issues of your future research plan, problems that should be solved, and processes in which you obtained your research ideas

(2) Purposes and contents of the research (Clearly describe your research purposes and contents. Figures and tables can be included.)

① Describe the purposes, methods, and contents of your research activities.

② Write specifically what is your research plan, what you will pursue through your research activities, and to what extent you will reveal it.

③ In the case of joint research, indicate the part of the research you are in charge of.

④ If you plan to be engaged in research activities at other research institutions (foreign institutions, etc.) during the period of your research plan, mention this.

 Research methods and contents (Write them on a yearly basis.)

(3) Features and original aspects of the research

Write about the following topics:

① The features, focuses, and original aspects of your research, comparing them with your previous researches, if any

② The position and significance of your research in other domestic and overseas researches concerned

③ The impact expected to be made when your research is completed and the future prospects

(4) Handling of human rights protection and compliance with laws and regulations

In this column, describe the measures and actions you will take when carrying out your research plan, in case it contains researches that require legal procedures. These include researches that require agreement and cooperation of other persons, that require consideration for handling personal information, and that need measures for bioethics and safety. Specifically, these are questionnaires and interviews including personal information, use of offered specimens, analytic studies of human genes, experiments on genetic modification and animals, all of which shall need procedures for approval from information committees and ethics committees inside and outside the research institutions.

When your research plan does not contain such researches as stated above, mention this.

(For the achievements of research in which you participated, write the details for each item and assign serial numbers to each. For items not applicable, enter “No.” Your name should be underlined.)

(1) Academic papers published in scientific journals (including bulletins and collections of papers) and your own books (Write whether or not peer review was included. For papers and books that underwent peer review, list only those that have already been printed or decided to be printed. Exclude those that are undergoing peer review or under submission.)

Write the author(s) (names of all authors including you, and list them in the same order as in the paper.); title; journal name in which your papers are published; publishing office; volume no.; pp (starting & ending pages); publication year, in this order. Write your affiliation and job in a footnote. When there are more than ten authors, it is permitted to write several main authors* and omit the others. (When omitting them, write the number of all coauthors and the order in which your name is listed among the authors.)

(2) Tutorial papers/review papers published in scientific journals and commercial magazines

(3) Presentations at international conferences (Write the classification of whether an oral or a poster presentation, and whether or not they underwent peer review.)

Write the author(s) (names of all authors including you in the same order as in the paper.); title; conference name at which you gave the presentation; no. of your paper, etc.; venue; month and year. Circle the name of presenters. (Exclude presentations scheduled to be given. However, presentations whose applications have been accepted can be included.)

(4) Presentations at domestic conferences and symposiums Write in the same way as (3) above.

(5) Patents, etc. (Write clearly whether patents are pending, their applications are laid open, or they have been acquired. If the patents are pending and their details cannot be clarified, write only a brief overview.)
