Chapter 7:2 Love
1. Romantic Love-Exhilarating feeling, short term, quick.
2. Mature Love- Long lasting, caring, and giving.
3. Infatuation –A strong feeling of attraction.
4. The Growth of Mature Love
A. Rapport- couple shares personal thoughts and ideas.
B. Personal sharing-deep feeling, personal information.
C. Dependency-become attached to each other and you depend on each other.
D. Feeling of satisfaction-both feel their personal needs are being met in a relationship.
5. Reasons to Wait:
A. Psychological Consequences-self-doubt, guilt, feeling used or abused, fear, lack of trust
B. Unwanted Pregnancy-There is not contraceptive that is 100percent effective in preventing pregnancy.
Abstinence-not having sexual relations
C. Sexually transmitted infections-passed from person to person by sexual contact.

1. Group Date-a group of people spend time together and develop friendships.
2. Pair Dating-a couple will develop a relationship with each other.
3. Steady dating-a commitment to date only one person.
11. Advantages and disadvantages of steady dating:
· Care for each other
· You feel comfortable
· Develop trust
· Respect for each other
· You feel more committed to resolving conflicts
Disadvantages:
· Increase their self esteem
· Keep up with peers
· Hinder growth
· Limit your experience with others friends
· Limit your opportunities to meet new people who can help you learn more about yourself
12. Beginning a Dating Relationship
· Make your appearance count
· Be friendly, confident, and courteous
· Start a conversation
· Listen intently to what the person shares

13. Ending a dating relationship
· Realize your partner will be hurt
· Change your dating patterns
· Recognize your feelings as normal
· Emphasize other aspects of your life
14. Personal boundaries-are limits for behavior that you will not accept in a relationship.
