The Plan

1) Remember that God’s love is unconditional (1John 4:16)

· And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

2) Confess, He will forgive (1John 1:9)

· If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

3) Ask for renewal and cleansing (Rom 12:1-2)

· 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

4) Ask to be filled with positive thoughts (Phil 4:8)

· Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

5) Learn to possess your body in holiness (1 Thes 4:3-4)

· 1 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 2 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

6) Rely on the strength of Jesus (John 15:5 & Phil 4:13)

· "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

· I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

7) Remember you have the power of the Holy Spirit (Eph 3:16)

· I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

8) Walk in the Spirit. Do not fulfill lusts of the flesh (Gal 5:16)

· So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

9) Guard your heart. Commit yourself to the Lord (Prov 4:19-27 / 1John 2:16)

· Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. (Read all of Prov 4:19-27)

· For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.

10) Commit God’s Word to memory (Psalms 119:11)

· I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

11) Ask for God’s protection and have an escape plan (1Cor 10:13)

· No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

12) Seek and keep at least one accountability partner (Eph 4:25/James 5:16/Prov 12:15)

· Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

· Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

· The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.

Final Thoughts

· This is not unforgivable. God can and will forgive you.

· This is not unconquerable. Others have done it before you.

· Seek His help daily in prayer and by meditating on His Word.

· Try to outsmart your future self by thinking in advance of how you might cheat the safe guards you are now putting in place
