Argumentative Paragraphs

Choose one of the topics below to write about argumentatively. Remember to keep your audience in mind when you are writing. Your writing must be one detailed paragraph, with at least 15 sentences. The final copy must be typed in 12 pt. font and double-spaced. You must include a creative title.

1. Do you think that filmmakers should be allowed to show smoking in

movies that are rated G or PG? Write a paragraph, using a movie producer as your audience, that explains your position. Provide details, examples, and facts to support your argument.

2. Is TV good or bad for kids? Pick a side. Then write a paragraph that

explains your position. When planning what to say, imagine

arguments that your opponents will make. Think about how you will

address these arguments in your paragraph. If you pick that TV is good,

write as if your audience is an adult. If you pick that TV is bad,

write as if your audience is a kid your age.
