New SUFS Procedure

1. Complete renewal application for the Step Up For Students (SUFS) scholarship for 2015-2016.

2. Watch your email for your Award Letter.

3. New: Parents must pay the $29 application fee within 30 days of the award to access the award letter and reserve the scholarship. If you choose not to pay within the 30 days, the scholarship will be given to another eligible family.

4. Bring a copy of your Award Letter to the office.

5. Renewal families must submit their application AND required documents by April 30, 2015. Renewal applications will not be accepted after this date. Apply now to secure your 2015-2016 scholarship.

Picture Re-Takes November 5

Re-take Day is your chance if you:

· Were absent for pictures on September 24

· Are new to the school since September 24

· Need a retake

· Didn’t buy pictures the first time or want more.

For Retakes ~ be sure to return your original portraits

To purchase new portraits ~ request an order form from the school office.

Fall pictures are taken in school uniforms. Whether or not you purchase pictures, all new students and anyone who was absent on September 24 will be photographed for the yearbook.

Running Buddies

Earn volunteer hours by being a Running Buddy for our Girls on the Run participants who are preparing for a 5K in December. A running buddy is a person 18 or older who is invited to join a girl from Holy Rosary as she races to the 5K finish line at our practice event at Holy Rosary on Nov. 20 at 3:15 p.m. and at UNF on December 6. Soccer Tryouts Gr. 5-8 Start Today

Tryouts will be held Nov. 3, 4, and 6 from 3:15-5:00. Students who plan to participate in Varsity soccer must attend all 3 days of tryouts. A physical dated after June 1, 2014 on the required diocesan physical form and registration forms must be turned in before participating in tryouts. Basketball players and cheerleaders do not need a new physical. The $75 sports fee is due 11/24.

Our School’s Future Growth

You’re invited to participate in a Focus Group to discuss the future growth of our school. The meeting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9 in the parish hall immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass. All families are welcome, and Catholic families are especially encouraged to attend.

Fall Festival & Food Drive Nov. 25

Each year we look forward to the Fall Festival on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Many parents are needed to help at the festival. We also welcome your donations of food, drinks and candy. Your participation is encouraged! It’s a great way to earn volunteer hours and enjoy some time with the children. A flyer asking for volunteers and donations will be sent next week. The cost for the Festival food and games is $5 for each student. Teachers will begin collecting the money tomorrow. Each student is also asked to bring a canned good to be given to those in our community who are in need of food.

Please arrive on time! Serving stops promptly at 7:30 out of courtesy to our volunteers who need to move on to their other commitments.

Belk Charity Sale November 8

Belk will host a Charity Sale from 6-10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. Your purchase of a $5 Belk ticket from the school office is a direct donation to Holy Rosary and is good for $5 off your first purchase & 20-70% off storewide! Tickets on sale in the office. Earn one volunteer hour for each $5 ticket purchased.

Help Collect Labels & Box Tops

1. Don’t throw away that dime! Save Box Tops for Education: Look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products. Clip and send them to school in a bag or envelope marked with your child’s name and grade— each is worth 10¢.

2. Collect UPCs from Campbell’s Brand products: The UPC label on Campbell’s products can be redeemed for educational materials.

Parent Volunteers

We welcome the participation of parents as chaperones for field trips. Volunteers are required to attend a Protecting God’s Children training and complete a Criminal Background Check. Protecting God’s Children trainings are posted on www.virtus.org. Register in advance at a location of your choice; select “St. Augustine, FL (diocese)”. Select “Holy Rosary School” as the location. Bring us your certificate of attendance; we must have a copy on file in the office. Criminal background check information is available in the office. It takes two weeks for results to come back; plan ahead!

Step Up for Students – New

New families including those who have a child in PK4 this year: If your child is not currently receiving the Step Up For Students scholarship but you are interested in applying for the August 2015 school year, you can sign up for the 2015-16 income-based scholarship interest list online at www.stepupforstudents.org . Applications for new families will be accepted in spring 2015 and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
