Anytime:

·  We are really gearing up for a busy time in Second grade the next three months, so be sure to keep up with homework, memorizing math facts, and reading all info to come home. Lots will be going on!

·  CHECK CALENDAR IN THIS NEWSLETTER FOR VERY IMPORTANT DATES COMING UP !

·  We will be doing a fun art/writing project on Wednesday , so on Monday of this week, bring in snow clothes ( heavy jacket, hat, gloves, mittens) for a last chance for a photo.

·  This week we are starting cursive writing, a letter at a time. ( Shhhh! Don’t tell your child! Let it be a surprise when they return Monday , Jan 8! That’s so fun for them! ) Grades on the report card will NOT reflect this new skill, so as to cut down on the anxiety some kids feel when they attempt this new feat. Some little bodies are better suited for this new skill than others. It’s a physical maturity thing, so I choose to continue to grade handwriting on daily printing, taken from ALL work done.

·  We’ll be doing written, timed addition drills, (like the one I sent home for you to copy) with oral review drills all mixed up as well, to encourage repetitive practice. Students forget facts easily. Keep drilling. We will begin oral subtraction drills soon. That will be easier if they really now and understand their addition facts.
