Notice of Race

1Rules

1.1This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing

1.2 Racing rule 40 will be changed as follows: Rule 40 is changed to “Personal flotation shall be worn by all competitors at all times while on the water

1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence

1.4 If there is a discrepancy between the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions will take precedence

2Advertising
2.1Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority

2.2 Teams may display their own advertising as long as it does not interfere with the scoring of the boat or any provided by the organizing authority

3Eligibility and Entry
3.1 This regatta is open to any member school of the Canadian Intercollegiate Sailing Association (CICSA)

3.2 All Competitors must be in compliance with Unit 11: By-laws of the Canadian Intercollegiate Sailing Association, 1 – Eligibility, section 3, Eligibility for student athletes

3.3 There is a capacity of 6 boats, priority will be given to the first 6 teams to confirm there entry

4Boats
4.1 This event will be sailed on J 22 which will be provided by The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS)
4.2 Boats will be provided for all competitor and shall not be modified in any way other than
(a) The hull deck and rudder may be cleaned with only water
(b) Wind indicators, may be tided or taped to the boat, this includes yarn or thread

(c)
4.3 All equipment provided for the boat shall be stored on the boat at all time and shall not be alter in any way
4.4 Competitors shall report any damages or loss of equipment to the organizing authority immediately or as soon as they are safely ashore
4.5 Boat selection will take place prior to the first day of racing and will be done by random draw
4.6 The penalty for not compiling with the above mentioned will be disqualification from all races where the infraction of the rule occurred

5Venue
5.1 This event will be sailed out of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS)
5.2 Racing will take place off of point pleasant Park out side of Hens and Chickens
5.3 In the case of fog or bad sea condition races will be moved into the NorthWest arm

6Berthing and Moorings
6.1 Boats shall be keep at there assigned berth or mooring as directed by the organizing committee
6.2 Any change in berthing or mooring needs to be first approved by the organising committee

7Crews
7.1 Crews must contain one male and one female on the boat while racing
7.2 There will be a minimum crew of 3 and a maximum crew of 5, this included the skipper
7.3 The total maximum weight of crew and gear can not exceed

9Sailing Instructions
10.1 Sailing instructions will be made available by the time of check in

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Sail Canada prescription rule 4, Decision to Race. Dalhousie Sailing Team & race committee may, at their sole discretion, cancel racing at any given time should they so decide. Neither Dalhousie Sailing Team nor organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
