Exceptions:

Sue Kemp: Sue is responsible for the field experiences and methods courses for the undergraduate and graduate students in the Special Education Major. As a result, she has responsibilities for a number of courses – some of which may have low enrollment. In some instances she is the teacher of record, although she may not have direct supervisory responsibilities for these students. As a result, she may have what looks to be some inflated numbers tied to workload. Steps are being taken to adjust Dr. Kemp’s workload.

Mackenzie Savaiano: Mackenzie oversees the Visually Impaired program. Like Chris, she was and still is the only faculty member in charge of this area. She also has numerous program responsibilities and is the teacher of record for numerous courses, regardless of whether or have more student credit hour responsibilities. The department chair has recognized that there is a load problem and has taken away SPED 201 from Mackenzie’s load. As a result, tis will reduce her credit hour load by 6 hours for each academic year. In addition, the department chair will be limiting Mackenzie’s field experience load which will further limit the credit hour responsibilities Dr. Savaiano has. We now believe that her credit hour/work load will be in compliance with state rule.
