Name: ______

Biome Glogster/PreziProject

DIRECTIONS: In a group, you will research a biome that you choose. You will pick from these biomes:

  1. Hot and Dry Desert
  2. Tundra
  3. Northern Coniferous Forest (Taiga)
  4. Deciduous Forest
  5. Temperate Rainforest
  6. Tropical Rainforest
  7. Tropical Savannah
  8. Grasslands/Prairie
  9. Intertidal
  10. Alpine

With this information you will be creating a Glogster or a Prezi to show your research. The following is the information that you are responsible for collecting and including in your project. Some can be found on pages 4-5 of your greenEnvironmental Science textbook. There are links to some biome websites on our class site. Only use the sites provided by me, unless you get permission first. You will have to supplement the information with pictures, cool facts, movies, etc. that you find online.

***The class will fill out a note sheet based on your project, so we need to make sure the information is accurate ***

VERY IMPORTANT: You must do your research FIRST, before you begin your project. Below is how you will be graded:

RUBRIC:

(___/2points)Biome Name- Person Responsible: ______

(___/2points)Map of your Biome- Person Responsible: ______

(___/2points)Temperature Range- Person Responsible: ______

BEFORE YOU START YOUR GLOGSTER:

Type up all of your information in a Word or Google Document first (directions on my Website for how to open a Google Document). This way everyone can access the info from home. Then you can just copy and paste your text into the textboxes in Glogster. This way your information can be spellchecked, and it is easier to type in word. I will need to CHECK THAT YOU HAVE THIS TYPED before you can start Glogster!!!

TIPS FOR YOUR PROJECT:

Don’t use textboxes that have scrolling features, we should be able to see all the text by just looking at the sheet.

Try to consider a color scheme or theme, rather than just random colors/features. It makes the project look professional.

Double-check your work using this sheet before you finish. This is the sheet I will use to grade your project.

MOST IMPORTANT:

Have fun and put a lot of effort into this project so you can have a final product that you are proud of to show off your fellow classmates. Your classmates are relying on you to get all of the information so they get accurate notes!!!

What is a Glogster?

Glogsters are basically posters, but much better. They are online, instead of on cardboard, and you can include videos, sounds, animations, pictures, etc. to make them more interesting. They are easy to use once you get the hang of them. Here is how you get started…

  1. Go to
  2. Click on the button on the homepage that says “Create Account”
  3. Fill in the necessary information to register for an account. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PUT YOUR REAL NAME. You should use your gmail account for your email address. Click on “Sign UP”
  4. After you are signed in, click on the button that says “Create New Glog”
  5. Your new glog will show up, but most likely there will be advertisements, or other words/animations in the background. Click on these to highlight them, and click on the trashcan icon to delete them.
  6. If you would like to change the background, click on the “Wall” option to pick one.
  7. Click “Graphics” to add clipart or animated graphics
  8. Click “Text” to add crazy text boxes. (Stickers are best for long text, bubbles work too, titles are for headings)
  9. Click “Image” to add an image that is saved in your documents.
  10. Click “Video” to upload a video URL from YouTube.
  11. When you are finished, MAKE SURE TO HIT “SAVE OR PUBLISH” before you exit.
  12. If you have other questions, please ask each other, or me for help. There might be a small learning curve, but before you know it, you will be a master of the Glogster.
